I'm hunting an M&W KIT (turbo, manifold, and plumbing) for a 1967 John Deere 4020 Diesel. If you know where there is one at for sale let me know where at and a price.
Make sure turboing the 4020 is something you really want to do. Our 67 4020 had a LOT of problems with the kit on. Head gaskets was #1. Cooling was a problem under heavy load. If you do turbo it LEAVE THE PUMP STOCK!!!!!!!!
I will check the dealership I used to work at may have one on the shelf.
We used to have a '68 4020 with the M&W kit on it. It ran great with it. was something like 90hp stock and with the turbo it made like 120 or something. The tractor never overheated. Was one great running tractor, it would stomp the stock 4230 we had.
The 4020's we had did run well. However when we tryed to make them run with our IH 1206 we had problems. Seems about 110 to 115 HP is the upper limit for engine reliability. Even so the stock oiling system is not up to the task of a turbocharger if you expect more than 4 to 5000 hours between major overhauls.
