Comprerssor Map vs EGT's

Ok I know this might not be the right place for this thread but seems to be where the most knowledge on common-rails is so has anyone here owned or know much about the 2. 8 CRD in the Jeep Liberty's? Im thinking about getting 1 for the lady an would like to know the goods an bads before making a decision I see TS makes a box thats a plus any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I bought one for my wife. So far we've been pretty happy with it. I haven't chipped it yet, and I think I'm going to leave it stock, at least until the 7/70 power train warranty expires.

It averages 23-25 mpg pretty easily. I'm sure if we took it out for a trip on the interstate, it would be flirting with 30 mpg. All CRD liberty's come with an upgraded all wheel drive system which is great to drive on ice/snow. I'm really impressed with the weight distribution too, 4200 lbs up front, 4300 lbs on the rear axle, (that's with a full tank of fuel and me in the drivers seat). I also like the fact that it came with a class III receiver hitch with a 5,000 tow capacity.

Only bad thing I have to comment is that our Jeep is a limited "trail rated" edition, and yet it doesn't have any tow hooks in front???

Good friend of mine bought one last fall. MPG highway was about 26 but it hit 29-30 with performance box, but the box gave it some bucking problems when cold and was sent back. I really like that it sounds like a little tractor!

The lieutenant my son reports to at the Grand Rapids fire department bought one and speaks very highly of it. His wife loves it. Gets great mileage.

Mark @ TST loves his, and he says he can make some pretty good power/smoke with it...

hahaha, isn't that a cute little jeep, smok'in and all

I have a 06 Limited CRD, and so far I really like it. Fun to drive, does well on slick (snowy, icy, wet) roads, and gets pretty decent mileage. I only have about 1000 miles on it so far. My pickup is still more fun to drive though... :D

My buddy has one. Averages 25 mpg, has been to the dealer twice now at 6000 miles, check engine light still on. Don't know what the deal is, seems to run fine but they don't have a cure for the light. The hanging brake issue they did get fixed. 25mpg is still sad for a diesel rig of that size/weight INHO though.

I agree, with Rams getting 20-22, seems like that thing should do 35, at least on the EPA dyno. Jettas get 45 (used to be 50 before 04 emissions)

Still, it's a brick aerodynamically. Our Rams have a Ferrari-like windshield angle, which helps on the freeway.

Do they have front locking hubs available, or just full time? Those could give you an extra 2-4 mpg.

I did not think they were for sale in California.

We have a 06 Liberty CRD... It has 5K miles on it and a Predator chip. NO complaints, it rides decent, turns on a dime and has a butt load of torque. It gets around 23 in town. We really haven't taken a road trip yet.

It absolutly is one of the funnest vehicles to drive if you are a diesel enthusiast!

Cheers, Bill

I purchased my wife a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 CRD in April 2005... ... . Bright Silver Metallic, Dk/Lt Slate Gray Leather w/bun warmers, 5 spd auto, 22G pkg, Trailer Tow, 3. 73 Rear Axle w/Trac-Lok Differential, P235/70R16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's, Power Sunroof, Selec-Trac 4WD, Infinity 6-Disc In-Dash w/Sirius Satellite Radio, Magnaflow #15870 Cat-Back Exhaust..... it's been a great little SUV other than the typical EGR Valve problem. Supposedly the problem is not as rare with the 2006's. Mileage with winter fuel and some extended idling has been around mid 22's 90% of the time; a little less the other 10% of the time. Our 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 w/3. 7L V6 would get around 270---280 miles per tank..... the CRD easily goes 470---480 miles on the same tank. First BOMB was ditching the wimpy Wrangler ST's and replacing them with Dueler A/T REVO's. Second BOMB was the Magnaflow #15870 Cat-Back exhaust system. At 13. 8k miles, I'm hoping to see even better mpg's after the winter fuel is done in my neck of the woods.

doesnt a regular liberty get only like 18mpg anyway?

i know most jeeps SUCK for MPG... just due to being a flat surfaced ride... .

Four Wheeler Magazine has one for a year for a long term test; there will be quarterly updates on it in the magazine--first one is in the April issue. I drove it for a month and it's fantastic! Wish we could buy them in California.
