Diesel Fuel 101

Diesel Drag Races!!!

Hello yall. I have found a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited CRD with 32,000 miles that I am interested in. Can any of yall who have a diesel Liberty give me your thoughts and opinions? How is your fuel economy? I have heard around 28 mpg. How do you like the vehicle overall? Is there a specific forum like TDR for Liberty CRDs? What things do I need to be aware of and to check for when I check this vehicle out? It has just had the torque converter recall done.

Thanks for any help and advice!

John

I also have a 2005 (well, my wife does). After some initial teething pains, she absolutely loves it now.

Checkout www.lostkjs.com They have the best CRD forum I have found. Seems like the vehicles are either really good or really lemons - so I would find out why its for sale. A lot of them suffer from a transmission shudder between 45 and 55 MPH, so definately check that out. Ours seems a lot happier on ULSD then it was on LSD.

28 MPG is what ours gets under optimal conditions. Since the switchover from winter blend, we've been seeing 20-21 in 99% stop and go in town. My wife just took it on a 300 mile trip and got 26. 6.

The other nice thing about the 2005's is the 7/70 warranty, which was reduced to 3/36 in 06. If you have any other specific questions, let me know.

They are a pretty unique vehicle - nothing else quite like it. When you drive it, you'll see its a lot like driving a sling shot!

great mpg

We get between 23 and 25 mpg with ours. Other than the recall for the TC and the lower front ball joints it runs pretty good. If it is cold and hasn't warmed up it takes about 5 minutes to shift into 5th gear. We usually run ours around 62mph.

Best Car Ever

:-laf :-laf Me and my dad just went down to Ft. Lauderdale to pick up an 05 limeted diesel with 2600 miles and let me tell you it flyes. It is one of the best cars we have ever owned. The car gets around 23-27 mpg. It has alot of room in it and by that I mean a ton of head room. Over all the car is great and I think you should buy it. :-laf

guy I work for is having some issues with his right now. the torque converter locks up sometimes when your sitting still and lauches the vehicle forward(awsome torque) but wont hardly kill it.

Tell him there is a 'customer satisfaction notice' for this. Its number F37. New torque converter and reflash the TCM.

I am going to look at it this week. Thanks for the input. I am going to the dealer prepared to buy. This guy is reputable (I bought my 2003 new from him) and it has a 12 month unlimited bumper to bumper warranty in addition to the remainder of the 7/70 warranty. The torque converter was just replaced (by his dealership) and he says it is a perfect vehicle. I am looking forward to it!

Thanks again for the input. I will let yall know when/if I get it.

F37 does reflash to protect the TQ. And it does not increase the torque !

LostKJ's has a lot of information and discussion! Sort of like the early TQ discussions here on the 2nd gens!
