Laser drilled Injectors Instead of EDM??

I agree! We have two in stock that can't be delivered until the conclusion of the StL car show and we have already presold six more, sight unseen and not test driven. As far as power, in my limited test drive, I was quite impressed. I think the CRD will give the 3. 7 in momma's KJ a run for it's money. As I said in my earlier post, the diesel has more of a rattle than soccer mom's may like but true Jeep afficiandos will LOVE the new little KJ. Don't sell the Liberty short, gas or diesel it is an impressive little SUV!

being from Europe I just don't quite get it why diesels aren't more popular.

And the whole emissions thing is way overrated -> the diesels these days are not 'smokers' anymore and thanks to the better mileage they will, in the end, be less environmental unfriendly than their gas counter parts.

I know that I've enjoyed driving diesel powered rigs in Europe (anything from 'small' VW Jettas and Opel Kadetts, Astras, Vectras to Nissans and Mercedes' etc. to European 18 wheeler trucks) and the TDi optioned ones leave gassers in their trails ;)

Thats it

Americans have been spoiled by cheap gas/fuel costs for years. That and the only diesel most remember is the GM version of the seventies, so when they hear diesel, they run away. I have had people almost call me a liar when I tell them the mileage my wife gets with her TDI Bug. Some of the faces I get when passing the gassers at 80-85 are priceless. I do wish our EPA would lighten up a little, but some of this is just political I am afraid. The big three have a lot of money in DC and the engine industry. :D

Went to the local dealer last night, was told they won't be released until sometime in April... In December / January they were told Feb/Mar. Now it's out to April...

They are a really nice looking vehicle!

Had it been offered in an XJ platform I would buy one. I could use a good, capable, downsized 4x4 diesel with solid axles, full instruments, 242, ect.

Motor Trend has a workup on the Liberty, Escape Hybrid, and Toyota Rav4. They liked the Liberty. I was very disappointed in its fuel economy: worse than the Rav4, which is powered by a conventional 4-cyl gas engine. Of course, the Liberty is 1000 lb heavier.
