Jeep Trailer

I'm looking for a quality trailer to tow my Jeep. It will be a bumper pull and tandem axle unit. A toolbox in front would be nice along with tie downs for the Jeep and maybe the ability to add sides if I needed to use it for hauling other stuff. What are you guys using and what could I expect to pay for a new unit/used unit? Thanks!

I think California only requires one of the axles equipped with brakes. Definitely go with double axle electric brakes. I also like the Prodigy brake controller.

I should've mentioned tires. Friends and I just returned from Moab. One of the guys bought used tires for his trailer. Yes, I warned him not to do it. He blew out 3 of 4 tires at various times on the way to Moab. He ended up buying 4 new tires at Moab tire dealer.

I have a Big Tex 70DM that I use to haul my Land Cruiser around on. I've had it since 2001 and really like it. It has a diamond plate deck so I don't have to mess with wood and it tows great. I don't know its back there most of the time. It didn't come with a tool box but those are not hard to find. There are 4 tie down rings installed in the deck so strapping the Cruiser down is no problem. It cost me about $2200. 00 new but I'm sure the prices have gone up some since I bought this one.

I have a Torklift SuperHitch, 48" SuperTruss extension and the whole Torklift tie down system. Everything works very well.

The 48" extension can handle a 600 lb trailer tongue weight or up to 1200 lb tongue weight with an equalizer hitch. I have the tongue weight set right about 300 lbs right now (no equalizer hitch). I went on an 800 mile trip with it and it worked great, I didn't know the trailer was back there most of the time. I can feel the trailer pull when I apply the brakes but other than that its great.

Also using the full Torklift setup w/32" extension. Also used the full Torklift setup on my 96' w/48" extension.

Is that a Lance on the back of your truck? If so what model?

It's an Arctic Fox 811. It was a toss up between the Arctic Fox or the Lance. Wife preferred the AF811 interior.

I have a Carson 20ft and it works well. Tires are garbage, but it was about 1800. 00 a few years ago. Trailer pulls very well. I would look for something with a treated wood deck if that is what you are going with, mine was just painted and from a few years here in NC it is getting pretty rotted. Okay for quads, but it would probably be a disaster for Jeep. Scotty
