I ordered all new SS brake lines from Classic Tube. The flexible lines from the front calipers to the junction block on the frame are two different lengths. Looks kind of goofy and I'm not sure I have enough hose length for full axle travel.

Then the solid line from the right side junction to the anti-lock controller is too short to attach. I'm going to have to make a splice piece to make it long enough. I had to refab the hose guides at the front of the trailing arms, even though the description on the pkg. says everything is included for a stock install.

Anybody else know if they have different length flexible lines on the front left and right side? Also, anyone else have to use splice peices for the connections at the anti-lock controller? Anyone have pics of the routing at this location?

I think I would have been better off fabing my own brake lines as opposed to these "pre-bent" lines. What do you guys think? Any help would be appreciated.

Jake

I'm surprised anyone had pre-bent lines. I called Classic Tube about my 94 and they said no joy. I like the concept of pre bent stainless tube, but I haven't had great luck getting prior vehicles of mine's pre bent lines to fit exactly right. Same as what you're going through. I think I might as well just make my own.

Pre Bent Brake Lines

Thanks for the info. PRattenbury. I had to wait a little over six weeks to get the pre bent lines. As you can see from my sig. mines a '94 too. They must have recently come up with the drawings/program for the CNC machine.

When did you request the lines from Classic Tube?

DeeJay

I think I would contact Classic tube with your issue.

I personally would not accept a "splice".

Hose lengths should match your OEM or be a tad longer.

Be sure the hoses don't rub on the tires. .

I've only had my truck for 8 months. Probably less than 6 months ago I asked about the lines for my truck. They said they didn't have any, but if I sent my old ones to them they would make some for me. They're good people to deal with if you get problems. Just send them what doesn't fit and tell them why it won't fit, and they'll fix you up. I just get annoyed when I set out to do a job like that and run into problems, laying the vehicle up for a long time.

Good People

They're some of the best people I've ever dealt with. I called them each time I ran into an issue, they never got tired of dealing with me. I just need a little help here with my decisions about how to move forward.

I think I did get the lines for a slightly dif. truck. Mine seems to have all wheel anti-lock. Is that possible? Anyone else have AWAL on a 94'?

I'm gonna get the truck on the ground for the winter w/ the "splices" in the lines. I'll call CLassic and see about getting complete, full lines.

Anyone else have uneven length RS/LS flexi hose segments that run from the rotors to the frame brackets? My OEM seemed to be the same length.

The help is appreciated. She'll be on the ground soon.

Jake

AWAL was an option but I think it might be kind of rare. The stock flex lines I threw away (1 failed) when I installed the EGR lines were the same and the EGR lines are the same length.

From what I've heard from other people, they will make it right. Don't wait too long or you might have problems getting satisfaction from them. See what your options are for getting correct lines and minimizing truck downtime.

I made new lines for mine, stainless would be nice though. All mine were rusting badly and the rear was just about through.

Stainless Lines

Thanks for the info Extreme. Thought maybe I was loosing it, never heard of AWAL on a 94'. Parts stores always ask with or w/o rear ABS.

The stainless lines look great @ the vac booster/master cylinder. Since I'm installing all new fuel and brake lines, (along with axle seals, calipers, pads, shoes etc. ) I've got a ton of bleeding to do.

My friend from the parts store said I may have to cycle the ABS controller w/my scan tool/programer.

Jake

Fwal?

Mine only has anti lock at the front wheels. No sensors, no wires going to the rears. Tried to bleed the lines last night after completing the install. I'm gonna search the threads again because the first hour yielded zero fluid thru the lines.

Impossible to have only front anti lock... .

the second gen trucks ALL came with rear wheel ABS and had a 4 wheel ABS as an option. The rear abs runs off of a toothed ring in the rear differential - not the rear drums.

Good luck.

Classic Tube should make it right for you - the owner is a car guy and would not stand for anything less.

Sounds like you got the rear wheel ABS front flex hoses and you needed 4 wheel ABS flex hoses - they are different.

Aha!

Thx Redram. I'll look again. But it looks to me as though I don't have any wires going to the rears. The only thing I saw yesterday was the emergency brake cable. Could it be previous owner removed the RWAL?

Anyway, now I'm bleeding lines. I didn't bench bleed the master after the teardown because I didn't understand or see the one post explaining it. I did empty all the old fluid out after removal from the truck. I got the master to bleed by loosening the lines and using the brake pedal. I think I'm gonna try to get a mityvac pressure bleeder locally today.

I'll post the results, I'm just trying to add to the already good brake info that's out there. I appreciate the help, TDR makes it easier.
