Here I am

JEEZE, I'm SUCH an IDIOT!

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

I had a helper the other day working on the truck

Detroit DD15

Way too common posts seen on boards like this:

1. I knew I should have installed GAUGES before ANY other truck mods, but wanted that neat (fill in blank HERE), so figured gauges could wait - now my engine (or VP-44) is TOAST! WAHhhhhhh! :{

2. I knew my transmission was in danger of failure after installing that new power box - but I figured I could control my "dark side", and take it easy until I could afford a transmission upgrade - but then this guy in a FORD razzed me on the street - and NOW I'm WALKING to work! WAHHhhhhh! :{

3. I knew street racing was dangerous - but I couldn't resist that guy in the Chevy - now my truck's totalled, I put an innocent driver in the hospital, and *I* am in JAIL! WAHhhhhh! :{

THIS list can go on for quite a ways - do you have one of your own? :D

How bout this one: As I was sitting on the side of the expressway with a dead lift pump - "Man, it really bites that I have ordered my fuel pressure gauge, it just hasn't come in yet. Guess I should have ordered it 5 months ago with my Edge, it would be installed already".

... . boy,do i EVER... . i park in an inside garage at work,... . last week,for some reason STILL unknown to me,i changed my "back-up-and pull out" procedure to just backing past the exit doors,and cut the wheel hard... . needless to say,my approach was too sharp,and,you guessed it!!!. . i managed to scratch the driver side back door!!!!!approx. 6-7 inches... i was LIVID to say the least... i'm hoping to have it repaired BEFORE May Madness,but if by chance i don't,you're welcome to come by my site and view my IDIOCY!!! #@$%!

..... tom

i'm such an idiot too at times,i went to put the truck in reverse to back out of a stall/curb-----i hit fifth instead, truck jumped/rolled ahead and punched a hole through my lower sport bumper---900. 00 beans later----i learned to not park to dam close to a fire hydrant with the front-end#@$%!#@$%!. Live and learn,sometimes the hard way. :-laf:-laf:-lafDw

i read about the kdp a long time ago. i was gonna get the tab and get-er-dun. never got around to it.

i noticed a large oil leak in the front of my engine coming from the gearcase area.

i know its easy to tab the dowel pin. replacing the gear case is gonna be a bit more time consuming,,,,,,,isnt it?? :D

State Trooper coming ahead... no problem and no need to slow down, they don't give tickets for doing 75 mph in a 70zone. Wrong! This is about 5 years ago... the first ticket I got in 25 years.

Well for me thanks to this forum I have avoided most of the common problems for the 2nd Gen's and have done everything I can to prevent one. Thank's TDR!!!

From the oil change archives:

1. "How about that, might want to install that drain plug before refilling the engine with new oil. "

2. A 2-gallon pan might come up a bit short when draining your crankcase.

BE happy, very VERY happy you were fortunate enough to get a NV5600 and "standard" clutch/flywheel, rather than the latest DC screwup - the G-56 matched to a troublesome Dual Mass flywheel!

LOL that's great. Haven't done that yet but I am still young...

I tried to use 2 gaskets on my oil filter once (not by choice, but but lack of light and not taking my time. ). needless to say, I was in the same boat as the guy/gal that use the 2 gallon catch pan :-laf

Not to many stupid things thus far in my career as a backyard mechanic.

Also got the lift pump to strand me on the road, but some how I was able to get her started again and got the 3 miles to the nearest dealership. Right on queue with 75,000 miles.

Adjusting valves on a running engine is not a good idea! Some company actually sold defletors for the shooting oil. Just shot the oil in a different direction. What a mess!

Before buying a torque wrench... just a little tighter... Doh! Stripped, broken, new problem.

Do it youself oil changer fo life. Next oil change after K-Mart's finest put all his might in tightening the oil plug. Stripped.

i have my new dodge and which way does it unscrew from the top??:confused::confused:#@$%!

luckily had a strap wrench to undo my monstrous#@$%! tighting of the filter. . :D:D

Jeeze - you guys are too easy! :-laf

How about that driver side rear view mirror being to dirty to see with, so open door to see back while backing out of garage = LOTS of body work on both vehicle door, as well as garaged door frame.

OR, forgetting to lower tailgate before driving away from 5th wheel...

OR, not lowering 5th wheel support legs befor driving out from under the fiver...

"Drop a few quarts of oil on the floor during an oil change"?

MAN, you guys are WIMPS! :-laf:-laf:-laf

Geez Gary,i"m new to the fiver thing this year(all i had was TT before)now you gone and done it---i"m really nervous about doing just that:eek::eek::eek:, i tend to triple check everything when pulling away. A fella up the street remind me of the carnage that can happen to a Dodge if you forget those things----2 nice creases along the bed,#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!and i never saw the fiver though. DW.

boy that drain plug was tight!! i tried a breaker bar and it still wouldn't come out. so i figured "what the heck" use the impact wrench!!

guess what happens once the plug comes out and the impact is still spinning fast. :-laf

did that about 30 some years ago.

heh, a guy a few jobs ago did that with a dodge and gooseneck. So bad the sawzaw had to come out to get the tail gate off to get the trailer unhooked to get it to the body shop :)

Gee, I should have folded up the stairs on the camper before I pulled forward (right next to a BIG tree). They are folded now. Sideways !

Back under a loaded goosneck, quick load check, lights ok, go.

Get an ugly, sinking feeling about a mile down the road, ease off to the side, jump out, look in the bed..... shure enough, that hitch is unlocked.

That could have been REALLY bad!

Pulling out of an RV park in Lebanon, TN, I stopped by the office and herd a "thump" in back. I knew right away. Opened the door, and the TV had slid off its shelf and rolled accross the floor. Broke the coax wall plate and pulled some coax out of the wall. (TV survived)

I've never done it, but who here hasnt seen a RV or trailer pulling out of the park with the TV antenna up. :-laf

Yup that TV antenna thing is the first thing on my mind. Before we bought our 5th, we rented a motorhome once a year and the rental place warned us of that. They put a hair clip on the antenna up/down knob and told us to put the clip on the steering wheel when it was in use. This way we'd see it on the wheel and remember to lower it before driving away. What a great idea!! Do this now in our 5th (put the clip on the sink faucet) and to date haven't had any idiot moments with the antenna. Hopefully haven't jinxed myself!
