You guys are going to love this one.....
So, I was going to change the fluid in the NV4500 one nice afternoon. Didnt want to lay in the dirt, and my truck didnt fit in the garage with the stacks, so I pulled forward into the garage enough so that the transmission was over the garage cement apron. Well, ya'll know how there is about 1 - . 75 quarts of fluid left in the transmission thanks to some penny pincher not putting a drain plug in the darn transmission, and with the drive line angle in our trucks, it just doesnt drain all out. In a moment of infanite wisdom, I figured the easiest way to get it out since I dint have a suction system was to "level out" the transmission so it would pour out the inspection cover. Would have worked great..... EXCEPT one little detail I forgot. Tossed the 3. 5 ton jack under the rear, and proceeded to jack it up. Man, sure seems to be getting hard to pump this thing... What the heck. Look under the truck, just about level. Give it 2 more pumps... man, this is really hard... look up... . #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!#@$%! Hello, McFly? Anyone home? That header of the garage door was planted 2-3" deep into the top of my cab! I dropped the jack, and took a look. It wasnt good. I then dropped the f-bomb so loud that my wife ran up from the BASEMENT to see what was going on. I jumped in the back seat, put my feet firmly on the roof and kicked it! Most of the dent is gone, but the scar is still noticable when standin in the bed.
Needless to say, I felt like the biggest moron that day. Darn 7' garage doors... what was my Dad thinking 30+ years ago? :-laf
