Competition DHRA drags, Woodburn Or., Aug.2!!

In watching Gitch's video's, did anyone see the one with a single cab, Red, 4x4 run. It was smoking good until right till the end. It ran a 13. 24 at 80 mph.



That was Strick 9's truck. That was probably a solid 12. 9 pass, but he had mechanical probs. Chris puts in a lot of time and effort into R&D, and differant combo's.



He get's ragged on a little by Sled Puller (all in fun) and keeps his head up. Chris is a heck of a nice guy, and is willing to help anyone every time I have seen him at an event (Dallas Dyno, Houston Dyno, and the COTT).



Chris would have been the third 12 sec. Dodge at the COTT and I believe deserves some recognition for his effort!!!!!

Shrimpy, My truck smokes about like Chris's does, half track you can't see it. He was definitely on a run there, looked like he was out of it right after the 1/8th.

I thought there was suppose to be 6 12 second trucks, I only counted 3: Mr. Prince, Joe H. , and the Ford.



I think for the next race we will skip Joe, and shoot stright for Mr. Prince, providing he stays with a manual. Call chip, he had a spy at the track Wednesday. :D ;)



Jim, your exactly right about Chris, he is a great guy, don't come any nicer. However, talk about hiting a brick wall, trying to hit the 12's. #ad

As for the smoke. Keep in mind, that was with two nitrous jets. On that run it was a . 108 jet and an . 080 jet and 70 psi of boost.

As for the mechanical problems. It's just turbos. Muncie was a 35/40 hybrid with a 12 cm housing @ 95 psi boost. A 12 cm housing with 95 psi of air blowing through it is GOING to overspeed the turbo. There's no way around that.



I run my truck at the drag strip the same way I do on the street. I like the 12 cm housing because the spoolup is great. It's fun to drive around town. But add a 200 HP shot of nitrous and it overspeeds the small turbo and snaps the shaft.



I have two choices, I either have to tone down the nitrous (bad)or build a bigger, stronger set of twins with more LAG to withstand the nitrous. I don't want to do either. :)

As for his motor combo, it's got some Mitchell parts, and would not pop his hood.

Why do people have to be like that?? I mean, it's just like having a gorgeous girlfriend or wife: If you know you got what's hot, Show it off!!! Is he afraid of being outdone or something?? Just a question. . It does, in a way, make sense. . I have not seen this guy, nor do I want to talk bad about someone I don't know, but I think y'all can relate to what I am saying.

Charlan... . Are you serious? People like Prince spend alot of time and trouble to make big power. When you reach a certain level it can be little things that make the difference. Little things you don't want your competitor see!! Or some jackleg who's gonna broadcast it on the internet.
 
2 years ago, Jeff Prince actually OFFERED to pop his hood for me so I could see his twins.



I would be afraid to pop my hood at these events also. Get me at my house, gas station, or car wash, and I'll be glad to open 'er up, but I'm to scaredy to let my truck sit there with hood open on race day, too many fingers!



There are poeple out there with only malicious intents, and you won't know, until damge is done. Get what I'm saying?

Imagine what one pulled wire could do, or a slit intercooler boot.

Some of the answers make sense - But in some cases I'll bet it's like trying to have a stranger tell you what he's catching the fish on... . A lot of folks will give you a complete line of BS, and even show you a complete fake rig. Just certain folks nature I guess -
 
From what I have noticed, there is 2 different ways of thinking on the matter.



1). Sled Puller's ways of thinking - must keep hood closed, can't let anyone see.



2). Drag Racers ways of thinking - gotta get this hood off so that I can get this thing ready for the next round.



We goto the track ALMOST every weekend, and there is ALWAYS poped hoods on the "real" race cars(pulled in an enclosed tralior). Race weekends is the same way.



I come from more of a racing background, so I relate more to that viewpoint, but see the sled pullers thoughts. :)

If your ever around me at the track my hood is always open when I'm around the truck to cool it off and check stuff out.



At Muncie I did the same thing, people would come by and look at Piers's truck and then over to mine and ask questions about the setup(wonder if the camera shots made it to the Muncie tape), let's see everything on the motor comes from his shop except the Twins, I figure that is what I'm suppose to do, help those that help me.



Need one more thing from Piers, new Twins! When ever this happens I'll sell all my stuff, I think it will sell very quickly as it has tons of R&D on it and is well proven.

Lets clear this up:



I am "Sled Puller"



The term for people who compete in the sled pulling arena are:

"sled pullers"



One difference in these two sports at this time.



A lot of pulling classes are OPEN, meaning they don't care what you did under the hood, no tech inspection.



Drag racing is teched, the hood must be opened.



The bracket racers will never be as secretive with hp goodys as the pullers.



I believe I opened my hood for anyone who asked, salt corrosion at its finest. :rolleyes: :(

I was not naming you, that is called correct grammar, the " 's " shows ownership, so it is, "a sled puller's way of thinking". ;)



Back to the fact of, thanks for proving my point about yall's way of thinking. Perhaps Mr. Prince would like to commit on his reasons, since I think he just joined. ;) :D



On a side note, since they do not tech for Open classes, with the recent tragedy that happen at a pulling event, do you think this might change in the future for a safety tech?
