Gear oil wt

When my 04.5 had a similar issue there was no change in engine RPM or any other engine changes , it felt like more of a binding in the drivline somewhere but was smooth at speed.
Sounds exactly like my issue. And you never found the cause but it didn't create greater problems? That sounds reassuring considering our trip plans.

Correct through looking back it did go away when I swapped axles, the truck had 4.10 gears , Dynatrac ball joints and a front axle truss but when I sold it I swapped the axles out of the truck I bought that were all stock 3.73 gears and then the problem did go away but the truck I swapped them into never had the issue so very odd. But no never caused any issues just an annoying intermittent jerking that I could not find the source of.

Wouldn't hurt to pull the diff covers if you have time and inspect the gears. I also always wondered if the transmission was somehow trying to engage both bands at once causing the issue but doesn't explain why it went away when I changed axles or why it was fine off idle.
