Those are not Harleys, per se, Champane Flight. Most of what goes into those bikes is strictly aftermarket parts from various manufacturers, including the engine pieces. I believe West Coast Choppers had a lot of the pieces in those faulty engines made up by a CNC shop. A factory Harley is a lot more durable than that.
I hate to rub anyone here the wrong way by my comments, but I'm not a big fan of West Coast Choppers. I prefer the bikes built by Cory Ness (son of Arlen) and Bryan Kinney, in Santa Rosa , California.
West Coast Choppers has the edge in marketing and hype, especially with their lead man having an instantly recognizable name. He's probably quite a decent guy, I wouldn't know. I just think there are others building better scoots. I've heard stories of deals gone bad, from other cycle builders, and a book deal that he backed out of. So there's a lot of enmity going around under the surface in the bike aftermarket industry. Normally I wouldn't care, but I've been shopping around, with an eye to partially building my own, and having Bryan finish it.
