Help, I want to winterize my jet ski after the summer season and can I do it myself. It is a 1998 TS 1000 Tigershark . My neighbors who have Sea Doos are doing it but their engine is a little different than mine. The manual has some instructions but they seem long and complicated. When I take it to the dealer they have it done in a few hours. There must be some simple shortcut to getting it done. Thanks.

Its easy, what you are trying to do is make sure you have no water in the engine and exhaust, along with the pumping unit. In most cases there in plug on the exhaust and engine to pull and let the water drain out. Change oil if its a 4 stroke. It should be good to go.

Its really simple to winterize watercraft.

On the intake air filter housing, there should be a rubber plug that can be removed. You disconnect the spark plug wires and insert the straw from the fogging oil can and spray while to crank the engine for a few seconds.

Also, you should add some Sta-bil to the fuel and run the engine prior to winterizing above to get the Sta-bil into the carbs.

All watercraft have self draining engines, you shouldn't have to do anything about the water.

Remove the battery and keep it charged as well.

BTW - All of the stuff above is not really necessary in my opinion. My buddy bought my 1994 Sea Doo in 1998 and has NEVER winterized it and it always starts every spring and runs very strong all season.
