I have an NTC 855 cu Cummins in a W 900 K-Whopper. This engine has been reworked to 850 flywheel hp by Diesel Injection of Pittsburg. It puts 700 to the ground and is a blast to drive.

However.

I have so much fuel pressure left over that I can't use. Would a HT3B and a Big Brother supply the air to this thing? All I'm looking for is 50 psi.

What do you think?

Thanks, Brian

I'm not Jim but I will give my . 02 . I would put a big brother on as a single as the exhaust housing on a big brother is similar in size to a HT3B. I would bet you can run it close to or over 50psi as a single too. I would ask Ken first about the boost though.

Brian your crackin me up, actually the 3B would be a little to big, try something smaller as the top Charger for me, the B/B is all good as a big charger.

Hey all you guys, thanks for the replies! I didn't know there were so many big rig experts on here! Cool.

So you guys, spill the beans! What would you use for the top charger?

A B-1, B-2? HX-50?

Brian

Jim... you're crackin me up! You really think an ht3 is too big for the bottom stage charger?? On an 855ci motor?? What charger do you think came stock on 855's??

TJ, I said bottom stage... . that is the small charger. What would I use? What do you plan on doing? is this a work truck? What transmission is in it? Probably an hx/ht60.

The two turbos you suggested would work together (maybe not perfectly) but you said you would like to keep the boost down to 50psi. 50psi is hard to do with twins (compounded) turbos. Twins have also been known to be harder on headgaskets with equal boost. That is why I would try the BB as a single first. It has a relatively small housing on it so it should spool reasonably well.
