My wife's a real etsate agent. Mostly dealing with more northern sales north of davis county. But has done an ocasional deal in SLC. 20 acres of land is going to be EXTREMEly hard to come by even remotely close to the cities. I know i've ben eyeing some nice property in cache valley, but this is on the north end of the state, opposite of what you need.

I won't comment much on living here. I moved here with the military about 9 years ago, and haven't left yet. The outdoors, hunting and the general freedom to roam were just want I wanted. There aren't many states with as much hunting ground and camping ground as Utah. Definitly a change from TX where I grew up. Between the sand dunes and the mountains and Moab... there's always something to do.

The southern part of the valley is really expensive. I bet 20 acres is going to run over a 1M if it's within 30 mins of the city. There's just too many people looking to buy land. Out where I live it's somewhat rural, though it's growing like Eric said. Why so much land? Horses, want to farm?

I know of a deal on 135 acre farm ground. We've been looking at buying it for a while now.

Thanks for all the responses. It looks like we will be moving out the end of May but I have not found a place to live yet.

We are looking up North... Hooper, Layton, and maybe Northeast.

Based on what I have seen I think we will start smaller, like 2-5 acres, and then purchase some more property in a remote location.
