has anyone had a john deere gator with the 3 cyliner diesel in it? I'm looking at a 2006 and want to know if they are hard to start in cold weather. Thank's Don
i have a 3 cyl JD diesel in a tractor. I think its a yanamar diesel. I would say that it starts alot harder than the dodge. mine came with a heater but i only use it when it is going to be very cold. i only use it to plow the drive way in the winter. It sits in the shop most of the time. if you need to use it every day in the winter i would make sure to get a heater. I have never had it not start.
I have a JD 790 with the Yanmar 3 cyl diesel in it, stored it in a uninsulated metal building, I have never used the pre-heater, all ways started with in 3 revolutions or less. Last time I talked to my dealer, the Gator has the same motor.
