Why all the new Diesel Vehicles???

I have been using the John Deere Plus 50, 15-40w motor oil in my and my families CTD’s and have been buying it in 55 gallon drums. I do this because my uncle is a farmer and uses this oil in his John Deere equipment and in his CTD’s. So when I use his tractors and need to add some motor oil then I am not mixing different brands of oil. Plus it is just convenient to have just one brand of motor oil around and always on hand. But I know that I am paying a premium for the John Deere name and was wondering if anyone knows who manufactures the John Deere oil for John Deere? It would be nice to be able to get the same oil but without having to pay a premium for the name especially since oil is already at a premium.

Thanks

Larry

Are you sure your paying a premium for the plus 50? The last time I checked it was about the same price as Delo or Rotela, probably about 2 years ago.....

Depends on where you live. In the US, Chevron is the supplier of the 15-40 Plus-50. This is according to their MSDS sheet.
