john deere/yanmar and kioti

i have been looking at tractors and i looked at the john deere and it had a yanmar in it no thanks. agco with the cummins is looking better all of the time but to big! also the kioti i am looking at has a 3 cyl turbo perkins.



i dont like yanmar. case tractors quit using cummins they use an iveco no thanks. kubota's builds there own and i am sure they are good they just sound like crap and are overpriced.



what do you guys think about a dk65 kioti. lifts more, weights more, has more standard gearing, better turing radius,more standard options for about 8K less than massey, kubota,john deere etc. i can get a 65 hp perkins turbo, 4wd, cab a/c radio, rear mount and mid mount hydralic quick connect, rear hoist adjustment, for 26K brand new what do you guys think?

I would skip the compact tractrors and step up to a real 65 hp tractor. Like an older 1980s Case/IH or JD. But looks like you want to buy new. Buy from the closest dealer with the best service- they say kubota is high on service parts- who knows about the kioti...

They are all high on service and parts! Don't know much about the Kioti. Mostly run Deere's and very happy with them. All of our Deere's have Deere engines. The larger Deere's run Deere engines and they tend to hold up really well. We have one that is 6 years old (6400 with cab and air) that has about 7000 hours on it with nothing but regular service done. Engine never touched. Gotta love it!

For a tight budget, you might want to check out Zetor. Basic no frills machine. A friend was getting good service out of his.

Why don't you like the Yanmar diesel? I've NEVER had any trouble with one and fairly easy on fuel.

We have a 1983 John Deere 750 with a 3-cylinder non-turbo Yanmar. After 21 years of straight neglect, all we've done to the engine aside from normal maintenance has been new glow plugs once. Great little engines.

if i buy a deere i want a deere engine but you cant get that until you get to the large tractors. why pay a premium price for and standard grade engine? the tractor i am looking at in a john deere and kubota comp the same is way over 30K i can fix that kioti many times for the price d/f. na i think i will say away from the mercedes(john deere) and get me a dodge(kioti). thanks for the input if somone has more info let me know. fyi the place where i am buying my tractor used to sell both kubota and kioti, now they only sell one kioti. why price, standard features, and a growing reputation for quality. they where outselling kubota by a huge margin and this is in the mississippi delta where green rules. for a midsize tractor this is the way to go. now for real farming i would be in a green tractor. but for my needs i can get dk55 for $22K includes 4cyl 55hp turbo cab with a/c 4x4 rear lever hydr(not available in deere or kubota) radio,joystick rear and midmount hydro connections etc. check them out at www.kiotitractor.com

The Perkins is a great engine and is used in several of the foreign labeled little tractors. If I were to buy new I would probably buy a Mahindra at the moment. My 68HP Massey has a Perkins and will start in 20 degree weather without iether or being plugged in. Something else that a lot of the foreign tractors have is adjustable pto speeds and down pressure with the lift.

I have read that Branson tractors use an A series cummins. The knock is that the rest of it is built in South Korea.

I know its all territorial, but 65HP is a pretty big farmer around these parts, not counting the Willamete Valley.



Shoot, if you have a good parts and service dept. like it sounds, go for the Kioti, the perkins is a good engine as far as I can see. Cummins has partnered with Kukje of Korea to produce the A -series which I was told is used by JD in some of their tractors. I'm not sure which ones but they would be 1400, 1700, and 2300 CC.

FYI, the Deere 4000 series uses the Yanmar, but the 5000 series uses a Deere diesel. Also, I have heard that Deere is thinking about replacing Yanmar in the larger 4000 series with their own diesel. I have been running a 4500 4wd w/Yanmar for 2-3 years and have no complaints.

P. S. : I suggest staying away from Kubuta. Know some guys that work on them daily and they all say the Deere (any Deere!) is MUCH easier to work on. Also, especially if you want to use a front end loader or backhoe attachment, you can drop them off a Deere in minutes, but there are something like 20 bolts that need to come off to drop the Kubuta stuff.

What have you been smoking????? It takes me less than five minutes to drop the backhoe from my BX23 and about 8 minutes to drop the front end loader ... and not one bolt has to be removed ... just pull two pins for the loader and pull and rotate 2 pins on the backhoe ... disconnect the hydrolics and your done.

I bought a Kabota L3130HSF this year and it's been great. Maintenance access is great and I have the quick attach (skidsteer) bucket for easy attachments. Everything seems pretty well build and designed as far as I can tell.

Skip the Kioti. Have one here where I work, spends more time down than up and parts have to come direct from japan. Buy kubota if you want an orange tractor

The Kioti DK65 impressed me when I first saw it. Looked like a lot of tractor for the money. The Kioti loader for the DK65 is weak, I understand.

However, the new Deere 4x20-series tractors just came out... not even on many dealer lots yet. TRUE Deere diesels (not Yanmar), plus all four new models have turbos! Terrific torque ratings.

yea the loader is weak from what i understand they say not to buy the loader from kioti but to put one on there from a name brand and the thing kick but. i am looking also as the mahindras 65 4wd tractor for 18950 now thats cheap. seems to be a good tractor. go see what a guy did to his kubota on tractor by net he ripped off a huge chunk of his rearend. nasty site. kubota would not do anything for him. sounds like the dodge dealer syndrome. its on that website mentioned above.

Cat uses Perkins diesels in many of their smaller pieces... like D4's etc. Kioti tractors are probably just as good as any other foreign small tractor. At one time everyone used to think Kubota's were junk... now they are considered one of the best small lines. The foreign built concern is mostly gone since all are made somewhere else. The John Deere compacts are made in Japan aren't they?
