What influenced you to purchase a diesel?

The John Deere compacts are made in Japan aren't they?

Some Deeres are made here... http://www.kukje21.co.kr/english/ , alongside my Century.

I don't think they are imported to the US, though.

Since Kukje also manufactures "A" series Cummins engines, maybe you can get a Deere with a Cummins!

The Deere 4000 and 5000 series tractors are assembled in Grovetown, GA. They each have their own assembly plant and from here they ship worldwide. (Have been to both plants many times on business)

Unless you need all the bells and whistles from the little jap compact tractors, I would suggest buying an older American tractor for much less money. It will probably outlast the little jap one and be worth more money down the road.

Ford 8N's are nice, but way over rated. But you can get the later model Fords from the 1960's pretty cheap and they are better than an 8N. An Oliver Super 55 is a great utility tractor and has live PTO and can be a diesel.

You can probably buy a good used early to mid 1970's John Deere, IH, Massey, or Allis-Chalmers utility tractor for less than a new little jap. And I'm sure it will outlast it and be worth more 20 years from now.

If you want new, definitely stay away from a Belurus. They are so cheesy you can cut your hands on the controls!

I have a 4310 4WD with the Yanmar engine and love it. I too have heard that Deere is going to make small engines for these tractors. A tractor is more than just an engine. I love Cummins engines but I wouldn't buy a Case IH just because of it. I'm as fanatical about John Deere as I am about Dodge for the reason that it's the best out there. John Deere has likely the best hydraulics of anything on the market and the service and support can't be beat. Run with the best.

deere is avg. from what i hear with thier smaller tractors but where they shine and the reason they have such a good rep. is thier large tractors. I know many farmers who use massey for ther smaller tractors and nothing but greene for the real work. as far as i am concerned the kioti with the perkins will suit my needs. and for 26K total i will be riding in a/c cab with a huge smile on my face :) I just got a price delivered total for a 55hp cab 4wd 19500 you cannot beat that!

well for the d/f in price b/t kioti and kubota i could rebuild the engine, rearend, and replace the tranmission..... that ouught to put it in to perspective for ya. but to each his own. from everything i hear it is real close to a kubota. my buddies kubota is 3 years old had to replace the hydro transmission in it and the tractor is light and weak (hydrostatic steals alot of power). these are some of the reasons i am looking elsewhere also dont forget price price price. and i am expecting to get what i paid for a well built tractor that is reasonably priced.
