can ya hear me now?

The question is: Should Johnny Taliban have been tried by our Government, or turned over to the new Afghan military after he was captured? I understand he was already sentanced to life by our goverment. This is just what I heard, maybe I am wrong, I havent watched much news lately.

My personnal opinion is that he gave up his U. S. citizenship when he took up arms with another country, then fought against the U. S. He is a traitor, but since he cannot be considered one if he is no longer an American citizen. Turning him over to the new Afghan faction would have been a more just punishment. More than likely he would be rotting away in a dank and dreary jail, or just vanish in the desert with the majority of the Taliban who were captured.

from the news

John Walker Lindh Pleads Guilty to Two Charges, Faces 20 Years

(AP) - The plea bargain the government struck with John Walker Lindh will ensure U. S. investigators have unfettered access to the young American who fought with the Taliban as they try to learn more about the inner workings of al-Qaida. For Lindh, the surprise deal holds a personal incentive: Instead of possibly spending the rest of his life in prison, he'll be a free man at the relatively young age of 41.

When they were extracting these hard core guys from the basement they used water and flooded them out. Would have saved time to use about 2" of diesel and light it off.

Another thing to think about. Our government has probably made him more wealthy than any of us could have possibly dreamed. His family will probably sight movie rights while he is in prison, and when he gets out, the liberal media and publishers will be kissing his ??? , toes??. This in the hopes of signing multi million dollar deals.

The way the government is going now, he will probably run for office when he gets out.

he should have been sent to "Gitmo" with the rest of those sH*tbirds... but, since that didn't happen, put him in a federal prison, somewhere south of the Mason-Dixon line, in "general population" and cellmated with some axe-murdering VietNam vet who comes from a long line of war-veteran axe-murderers who hate anyone and anything that comes from California, especially, if it wears sandals.

Hey, wait a minute - I'm wearing sandals right now. At work:D Granted I live only 45 miles from where Lindh grew up but that's not my fault.

Not sure what I missed in '956wheel's post:confused:

Steve Earle

TxDieselKid,

Have you heard anything about the new album? Other than ANOTHER controversial song from Steve.

As far as this John Walker guy. He was living better than the people that captured him (our soldiers) when he was in captivity. Now he is living on the tax payer's dollar, while he rakes in money from fringe groups and other people.

Just my thoughts,

simon

Should have let the guys in the black jump suits with the MP5 submachine guns do what we all know they wanted to do to him, then there would be no more problems and we would not be talking about the POS.

I think it is a good compromise. He helps the government and he spends 20 years in prison. Think about how long 20 years is. Now think about where he is spending that time and who his new friends and cell mates will be. He will not be the same person when he comes out. I think the death penalty is to easy. Living in a cage would be like being in hell, JMHO.

Ok, I'll bite. What are you trying to say?? Apparently you want someone to ask, you did it twice.

Pit Bull, I tend to agree. It probably costs the taxpayers more to put someone to death than life imprisoned what with all the appeals. I'm also sure a person's mindset changes with a less than a life sentence, the anticipation of getting released would be hell, whereas if you know you're not getting out you just accept the fact and make the best of it. John Walker Rat Turd will miss the best years of his life, good enough for me. I had sort of figured he was going to go scott free.

That is the same way I figured it.

It only costs more to put them to death if they bring em back. I'm from Calif and as far as I'm concerned, they should have shot him when they found him and not said a word. Hope if they find any more thats what they do. A bullet is real cheap. I sure don't want any of my tax money spent on some SOB like this. We are not all liberals out here guys.
