I know a few on the board have installed a Jotto Desk in the their Rams. I just bought one, but am having a hard time installing the brackets to the base of the seat. I loosened all of the passenger seat bolts and raised the front. The first problem is that there is a boss on the bottom of the seat rails that mounts into a countersunk area in the floor. So if I install the brackets the boss isn't in the correct location. Secondly, the seat must be full to the rear to mount the desk brackets to the seat. Thirdly, I can no longer use my catchall floor mats. I am kind of bummed, I should of known better than to think a 15 min install with no drilling using a universal mount was too good to be true.

Did the seat rails get changed, am I doing this all wrong, or is this mount not as universal as the advertising says?

Anybody successfully install one of these mounts?

I like the looks of the desk, and I think it will work fine, however, I am very disappointed in the seat brackets.

Any advice from other users would be appreciated.

TMTT,

No, I think I could return, just wanted to mount this before I left on a trip tomorrow.

I e-mailed or PM'd Figgy about his weeks ago, but never got a response, so figured he was too busy.

Do you have to have the seat all the way back with the Figgy mount? Is there enough clearance to have something like a Catch all floor mat (with a lip to contain slush, etc. ?)

The other thing that the Jotto mount does is run a brace from the right side of the passenger seat to the left side where the post for the desk mounts. I have to mount this way low, because the seat adjusting handle will interfere. I will take a look at things again in the morning, but it just didn't seem right when I was trying to install this evening.

Figs mount fits like OEM. you as a passenger have full comfort / adjustability and the thing is sturdy as heck! its amazing. I know he is making a bunch of mounts so he can meet demand.

Thanks. I went and looked at Figgy's pics, and it looks like floor mats, etc. would not interfere. All of the photos are mounted on a power seat, I assume this mounts equally nice on a manual seat, just wondering if it clears the adjusting bar that runs across the front. The Jotto mount does look like it has more adjustability, in the fact that you can swing it way to the right and actually use the laptop standing outside the passenger door, maybe I am just not seeing that flexibility in the photos.

I am dreaming of a combination of the two now, I wonder if Figgy could modify just a base mount only to fit the Jotto???

Thanks again for the advice, maybe I will call Jotto in the morning and see what they have to say.

Oh yeah shelby you have total access as a passenger to adjust the full range of motion of the seat ... . Powered or not. I'll give Fig a call and see how he is doin'.

EDIT:

Oh and flexibility it can counter rotate on its own axis (I. E Swivel , spin , tilt) and is height adjustable. And when not in use I can remove it in under 2 secconds!

Jotto Desk

I mounted mine on top of the seat bracket (Bolt through Jotto bracket then through the seat bracket). Everything bolted up perfectly. Seat adjustment gives me about 3 " forward from full back. If I remove the post insert, that cleans up the passenger area fairly well (but I don't gain any more seat adjustment). I also use the Jotto post as a post for a cb/scanner shelf. Kinda pricey, but fits my needs very well. -Eric:)

I see you have an 2003, I don't see a way to mount on the top on my 2001. Do you have the ability to e-mail me a digital photo?

Shelby,

I'm going to be mounting a Jotto desk in my 2001 when it gets here. I ordered the 5167ACR universal floor mount. I didn't need the RV brace that comes in the kit that is sold for the Dodge UP and Jotto would not take off the $50 that the RV brace costs. I'm going to fab up a bracket that is similar to the one that the 2003 use. But instead of running under the passanger seat it will run under the center seat section use the bolts that hold the center seat section and the two bolts at the left front corner of the seat raiser. I'll post some pictures when it is finished. I need to get it completed by the middle of Feduary because I'm going to be helping with the winter

Alcan5000 Rally that starts on Febuary 18.

Kevin,

Thanks. I can't run anything toward the drivers seat or the center, because I have a radio stack there. I am leaning now toward a mount like Figgy makes bolted to the left front corner of the passenger seat base and then grafting the Jotto post onto that and running without any brace at all. You answered my question on the brace portion, I was going to see if I could return that for credit, but it sounds like that won't happen.

I would like to see your photos when you get it done.

way to secure the laptop...

I have Figgy's laptop mount and I love it.

My question is... for those of you using a laptop mount...

How do you secure the laptop to the base?

I don't want to velcro the laptop to the base. Currently I use a non-skid material and a velcro strap that wraps around the laptop.

Does anyone have a better way ?

Thanks!!

The Jotto Desk that I got has to plastic coated cables that wrap around the laptop and have a over-center type latch with a spring that hold the laptop.

Looks like a fun cab to be in Patriot!! I was wondering if anyone has installed these mounts on a truck with a stick? - I can't find a good place for my laptop other than the old faithful Mucho Grande center console. Which don't get me wrong, is the best console produced for any vehicle to date!!~never the less... . any answers?

Skillsaw, did you look at my pictures on my readers rig site yet, link is a couple of posts up? I have a manual.

Patriot, I know you don't want to use velcro, but I used 4 1/2" round velcro dots and it dosen't move at all. Place them in the corners!

I ended up finding a couple of velcro straps that stretch. Work great... got then at Camping World...

I use them and a black non-skid pad underneath... it doesn't move at all.
