I have there heat shield and the Psychotty. It definatley helps to keep the heat from the turbine away from the air inlet. I painted mine with black BBQ paint but if you left it bare aluminum it would reflect even more heat.

I paid $35. 00 plus shipping. They include the metric nuts to attatch it to the stock airbox mounting studs. It is simple to install, no holes to drill or anything.

They retail for $149 I believe. (for the complete kit)

They are now using stainless steel since it is a

better REFLECTOR of heat than aluminum, and it will not corrode. But it did raise the price some because of it. I have one sitting here, but yet to put it on because been trying to get my transfer case leak fixed (in twice for it in 3 weeks). I've got a whole list of things to put on the turck when I finally get the t-case sealed. The kit includes filter, pipe adapter, and heat

shield. Call Ted to find out the specifics.

Functionally (all other things being equal), the aluminum would perform better as the stainless steel tends to hold heat whereas the aluminum will dissipate heat very quickly (try polishing both on a commercial polisher and you will see what I'm talking about). Why screw around though, just use carbon fiber and be done with it. Better yet, purchase an Air Bulldog induction hood and take your intake air right where the coolest air is found... at the leading edge of the hood (high pressure area).

Eventually I'll have one, but this lil thing about Doug being way over there in Idaho kinda puts a damper on things. Hell I'd love to goto Utah to see the fellas at Edge, swing by Las Vegas to see DD, swing by Idaho to pick up hood, swing by Canada to visit Piers and Bill. But alas not enough vacation time to go around at work..... :( Since I am "Eventually" going with the hood its why I am "passing" on the Pyschotty system, why drill the hole when I don't need it? I am afraid to order a hood to be shipped cuz my UPS man everytime he delivers something reminds me of the opening scene in Ace Venture. I am amazed at some of the boxes I recieve and how they survive.

So John, when ya driving cross country with a load of hoods? ;) LOL
