Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Juice w/Attitude installation?

Any tips on installation of Juice w/Attitude for the wife's 01? It looks pretty straightforward after reading directions. How much of a difference does the pumpwire make? The instructions say it is optional, but will cut performance gains. The truck is stock with an auto so I'm not going for an all out increase. Mainly after monitoring, mileage, and reasonable power increases until a transmission upgrade.

The install is pretty quick. If you have a warranty on your VP44, I would pop for the Stealth Plate, or something like it. If you tap into the wire like the instructions say, it will void any warranties for the VP. I have heard that HP gain is significant with the wire tapped.

The wire tap makes a significant difference. Unless she has more right foot control than most of us guys, I wouldn't tap until you upgraded the transmission. I spent 4 or five hours installing mine. I took my time running wires so it looked nice and didn't rub or get in the way. I also took the time to inspect gears and stuff while installing transmission temp sensor. If you can, pull the turbo when drilling and tapping egt probe to keep metal out. Otherwise, use a strong shopvac to suck up shavings. I soldered my own connectors on the ground wires and hooked them to battery terminal. The edge boxes seem to be very ground sensitive. Everybody has different opinions about certain products, but I'm very happy with my juice w/attitude.

One tip that I thought worked great was let the truck idle when you drill for egt. Just make sure you wear safety glasses. The exhaust pressure blows the drill shavings out. Worked great for me,and about that wire tap,well lets just say you spent alot of money for a great product-put it to good use. You will love the power gains,just leave it turned down when your wife uses the truck. If and when you use it,the option is there you will love it!!!Took me about 4 hours also, nice neat job. Take your time and read each step,it was pretty easy. I used a stealth cover,I was never a fan of those wire taps. Corrosion,not a good connection,etc-just my opinion

What is a stealth plate and how does it work? Still have the original vp44, no warranties at this age.



The wife is an ex-strip racer and can have a pretty heavy foot, but if I tell her the higher settings will toast the transmission she will stay out of them. She does her own maintenance and repair work for the most part and knows what a chunk of $$$$ a transmission will set us back. I know she has more self control than I do.

I learned about the cover after I had already tapped the wire. From what I understand it is a replacement to an OEM cover on the VP44 with the addition of a little pin that makes the same connection as the wire tap, this part is a little fuzzy to me, maybe bschmidt could fill you in on how the pin makes the connection.



There are a few places that sell the "stealth cover. " Blue Chip has one on their site that seems to be one of the cheapest that I have seen, called the pump cover.
