Competition DHRA Division 7 Opener - May 8th

How many would be interested in a Sled pull on the 4th of July in Agua Dulce, CA. Aqua Dulce is a little town about an hour north of LA. The pull would be held at the Agua Dulce Airpark, a cool little airport with a cafe, and other nice facilities. The evening of the 4th they have a BIG fireworks display that attracts maybe 6,000 - 8,000 people. During the day they have music and a big BBQ. It would be a perfect opportunity to get some exposure for sled pulling and it would be a fun day to bring family and friends for the BBQ, music, and fireworks - and sled pulling of course. The airpark facilities are top notch, all really nice stuff. Most of the sled pulls on the west coast seem to be in central and northern Cal, I think it would be good for the sport to get an event further south to attract some other people. And like I said, this would be good exposure as there will be thousands of people there to see the fireworks that night. The airpark is interested, I already talked to them, I just need to know if I can count on some of the heavy hitters (and others) coming to make it worth while before I go any further.

What do you guys think?

Craig

sounds interesting---need to check the calender--that's one week after the Bullydog event so if the truck isn't in pieces and I'm not overwhelmed with work there's a possibility--chris

Bummer Grey Wolf, would be nice to have another Actonian around for the event. I'm sure Bob Horrell will come and Catoiler from Lancaster too. He said he is confident we can get some of the other so cal guys involved. Hopefrully I can pull this off and make it an anual deal. Then you can come next year.

Hey Scott and Chris, I e mailed with Danelle and she said Brandon would most likely be up for it(he is out of town right now), and probably some Silvas too. If I can get some committment from you guys and a few of the other "Big trucks" in the Southwest area, I think this will be worth it. The reason it is important to me to make an impressive showing is that if it is well recieved, I'm hoping that the next year they will "invite" us back and possibly help support it. I want to throw some money back at the competitors for good performances like they deserve. The fireworks event draws a big crowd for such a small town and I think there could potentially be some money available. For this year, I think we will be on our own so we have to make a good go at it to secure the future. So get the word out guys and lets try to get a group together, I want to give this a go, but I am going to need a little help. Hey Chris, How would I go about getting the DPO involved for rules and organization? I would be happy to join the membership. What else? Also, what is the best way to get ahold of MLM for the sled. Have to line that up before I even think about this.

Thanks for the help guys.

Craig

Just got off the phone with MLM, they are available. He is putting some things together for me now. We need to get some confirmed entries in order to make this fly. I am going to work on the group in my area, but I really need some of you guys from up there to commit for it to be a good show. PM me when you can chris so we can talk some details.

Thanks.

Craig

I'm out of town on the Fourth already... ..... and will be really busy with the July 17 festival we're putting on, but will kick this around with my guys and see who's interested.

Who do they need to contact??

Kev

Hey Kev, bummer you are out of town. I know you are pretty active with a lot of events in the So cal area. If you could kick it around though that would be great. For now, you can have people contact me 661-212-8292, or e mail

Once I figure out for sure whether or not I can make it fly, I will have more info.

Thanks a lot.

Hey Chris,

PM, email or call me when you can so we can talk about some possibilities. I have a few things going on this but need to discuss some details with you.

Any other takers out there. Don't be shy if you think you are interested. I have had some people e mail and PM me, but we need people to post on this thread to keep the interest up to see if I can pull it off. I know there are a lot of people out there who would like to see a pull down here. So lets make a little noise.

Thanks guys.

Craig

Craig. . I'd love to be there... . BUTTTT I'll be down past ya in Long Beach area on the 4th [another one of those gotta do's my charm'in bride set up]

Willyslover,If you just happen to breakdown on the 14 on the way through,I'm sure some of us could help you out!Might take a few days though!!

Hey Mike, I was wondering when you were going to jump in here. I talked to the airpark more today and they are still in. I need to secure some funding in some way shape or form. I wanted to run a few things by you. Give me a call when you can. It now appears the event is a definite possibility, I just need to get some competitors locked in.

Bummer you won't be around Gary. Might need to borrow your clevis again like Tulare - ha ha.

Craig

Craig... If Chris Sutton showes up... . quietly walk around the front of his rig . . look down... my my what is that devise all pinned up down there LOL

so he would be your lendor. . I'm sure at a reasonable rate LOL [like a light loaded sled, cause you know his automatic transmission just can't handle a full load LOL ]

You got it Gary. Speaking of Chris, where is he? Still need to talk to him. Still don't have an indication whether or not I have enough support to make this happen. Anyone who might be interested needs to speak up or this thing will Fizzle to nothing. I would really like to make this happen and think it would be great for the sport if we could, but I'm just not sure we have enough interest.

Craig

I am VERY interested! I have only run one pull before and it was with my old '71 GMC that had some serious power. Ever since I have bombed my CTD I have been looking for a convienent pull to attend to see how the 'ol girl performs.

But, I don't get it, who is putting this on? Any forms to fill out for entry? It sounds like it is going to be a very small event, but maybe I am mistaken. Fill me in some more and give me directions to the event and I'll do my best to attend. My beastly dually is anxious to amaze the onlookers. :D

JGHEEN,

At this point the event is only a possibility. I am trying to drum up some interest in the event here on the TDR and other places. In order to make this happen, I need to see if I can get enough guys interested, and I am also trying to line up some sponsorship. So if you are interested, spread the word and get the interest up. That is the only way I can make it happen. I have a few of the big HP guys from up north who say they are in, but they alone can't make it happen. I know once I can establish the event and make it a sure thing, there will be plenty of guys from the so cal area who will attend. The hard part is getting it to that point. So help get the word out and I will try to make it happen on my end.
