While scurrying around the earth today looking to replace my 98. 5 3500 I stumbled on a 2004 3500; Laramie;DRW; 6 spd. with only 4100 miles on it. It is mine now.

Even a blind squrrel finds a nut once in awhile. :D

Since Dad (Jack in Alaska) is out driving around the city in his new truck I thought I would post the details.

He found the truck at Affordable in Anchorage. We went for a test drive yesterday and then I left him with the salesman. He traded in his 98. 5 with 170K on the clock and drove away today with the new one. Its loaded with all the bells and wistles including heated seats and the expando floor in the back. He can tell you what had to give for it if he wants, but it was a good deal.

Now its time to start addding stuff to it, it needs gauges and running boards right away. Then some bombs. Time to do some searching in the 3rd Gen forum I guess.

Sounds great, congratulations. Oo.

2004

It also has a 5th. whl. hitch and brake controller, spray-in-bedliner; running boards, chrome hood dam, window shields.

It took me 30 min. to find the previous owner and talk. He bought it new and a 5th. whl. His wife hated the whole thing. Traded the 5th. whl. for a motorhome and sold the truck as it was not used(obviously) or needed.

I found it while "shopping" on the internet. Could not believe a 2004 with 4100 miles. Turns out it was located here in Anchorage. Called, went down to look (JR2 already there),

haggled on the price, made the deal and wrote the check. Life is good once more. ;)

I actually hated to see my 98 go as I really liked it. My wife was getting tired of the noise and crappy seat.

I really like not having to worry about my 5th gear nut, the worn out ball joints, worn out rear brakes, broken windshield, flattened seat cushion etc.

You'll love the difference in the 3rd gen Jack. I know I love mine & I know what you mean about letting the old truck go. These trucks are a labor of love when you get to bombing them & letting go of those extras isn't easy.

I have a SWEEET KORE Suspension System for your truck Jack, it will make it handle like no other. Next time we all have a rally I will give you a ride in mine :D

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the quiet side of driving :-laf
