Hi Ya'll--
Wife and I just returned from a two week trip covering 4700 miles. We cruised around Yellowstone (and to Jackson, WY) for 4 days. The speed limit in Jellystone is 45 mph, and frequently you're behind someone rubbernecking while driving at 35-40mph. Anyway, we went 454 miles on 16. 8 gallons of the smelly stuff, for a mileage per gallon of 27! That's with a 4x4 club cab, (and at 7000-8000 feet elevation) so I'm pretty happy. Previously recorded a best of 26. 3 cruising around Durango, but that wasn't really a long enough distance to be a good solid reading. 48-49 mph is peak torque in 5th gear(1400 rpm) which is where I spent most of the miles, downshifting frequently for the grades or slow drivers. I had the valves adjusted at Cummins Southwest just before leaving, and I recorded slightly better mileage than ever. 14. 5 to 17. 5 towing our small 5th wheel (5000 lbs) depending on headwind or not, and speed (55mph seems to give 1 to 2 mpg's more than 65 mph).
