I think it is one of those things that seem like a good ideal on paper. It's real easy to describe and the theory behind it seems to lend validation, but it reality it never pans out.

TAG

I've had my TAG on now for a couple of months. No big difference but my truck seems to be snappier than before. The biggest difference is the truck is a lot quieter. I have the Scotty II and now I never run it in the "hush" mode.

Update on TAG

After a few weeks of driving with the tag installed I have noticed that my fuel economy has increased by almost a mile. My truck also seems to be slightly snappier. Overall I am not sure if it was worth the $130. I can say this much it did not hurt anything.

I second diesel&donuts.

Wife says she can carry on a conversation now with Scotty II open cowl, B1B, and TAG.

TAG well worth it just for that.

I see about 1# less boost at same speeds same roads same temps same weather. That means more efficient I think.

B1 seems to spool better. Was always really good over 8#, but really good over 4# now.

I have tried holding 8# steady acceleration, and it does get up and get. Tried stoped at a light to 70 mph, smooth acceleration all the way through.

Hooked up 13k 5er, seems the harder the pull the quieter it gets. 5er was 10# O/D out 65, now 8# same conditions and Scotty II really gets quiet. Not sure why quieter under more load, but seems to be the case.

Happier wife is WELL worth the TAG! I'm happier with it, trying hard not to be imagining better when that may not be the case. Idle is smoother as per the tach, boost is lower as per gauge, spool is better as per my seat, wife is better as per - well we won't go into that right now, is it friday night yet?.

Turbine Air Guide TAG

It is a SS honeycomb about 1" long to fit the mouth of your turbind inlet to straighten the incomming air flow from the air filter.

Do a search on TAG, many threads

I've had mine in for about 3 weeks and kinda miss the turbo whine. Seems snappier on acceleration and haven't heard any turbo bark since installation. I may have to try harder. Anyone else notice the lack of turbo bark? Could this have any effect?

Rosshatfield,

I have been running the prototype in my rig for over 6 months now. Where you will see the biggest benifit is when you tow a trailer or are loaded heavy. The TAG put the incoming air to the turbo into a LAMINAR FLOW state. The turbo is able to get a better bite into the air.

Your biggest benifit will be that the emmision from the truck will drop. This has been proven by a series of DEQ test that were conducted with DEQ in Portland and my truck. The maker of the TAG has the results in his files and I can send you a copy of the official readouts from DEQ.

The reason the Dodge does not see a big improvement when empty, is that the Holset Turbo is sized properly to the Cummins to begin with with it intake size and is at it maximum efficency already (when running empty). Fords see a fair gain because their turbos (Garrett) have a smaller intake throat. The TAG greatly improves the efficency of the Garrett Turbo because it is not sized for the best efficiency.

Your biggest gain will be when you are under heavy loads. With a 7,000 lb trailer and holding at 65 mph in summer, I get 18. 5 mph. This is with a 6 speed.

Hope this helps in understanding the dynamics of the TAG

;)
