606 for a 295? or for a 315?

EDIT - Duh, you have a 295 nitto

I wonder which it is then? 606 or like 620?

it's 606, maybe 605. 5, if you can do a . 5. I'm still stumped on how that came to be, but that's about as consistant as I could measure.

Tomey,

How much has your tred worn? I have about 3000miles on mine and they are down about 1/16" on the Discount tire tire guage thing. the Front's are like new.

these tiers are easy to spin. I suppose i need to slow down.

I have no idea, Maybe about 500 miles on them

I do like the better wet traction over the michelins though, very nice!

I checked http://www.nittotire.com/popup_terra_sizes.asp and it says 624 for the tire -- LT295/75 R16

BUT that miata site says 603...

Heck! I dont know what to think now, Nitto says one thing, Math says another - ARG!

You don't have a 16" rim do you? and your aspect ratio isn't 75,it's 70?

I'm running the 295/70/R17 = 606.

BUT as for as calculating the revs per mile based on tire tred length I'm confused. the chalk on tire, drive, re-chalk, drive, measure between two distances = 101. something on my ruler. but according to 1010tire.com it's 104. how the heck? that's puttin things off alot.

bottom like. I don't freaking get it.

Fly by a cop doing radar and mark your speed as you fly by him and when he catches you findout your speed and then do the math, a little expensive but it will get you the truth. :-laf :-laf Just kidding!

I used what the Miata calc. said and programed that into the attitude monitor and when I pass these nifty radar signs we have they are off by 1 mph vs the 2-3 per the trucks speedo.

I was just using that as an example to prove that either NITTO is wrong or we are... And nitto does not publish a Revs/per/mile for our tire, so I used the next closet one

By the numbers they (295R 70-17) should be a 34" tire, but they measure less than 33". I used 624 rpm when mine were new and it was off less than 1/2 mph compared to both of my gps's.

Now my problem is my wore Nitto's (24k miles) look tiny since I added the KORE pace suspension. :D

I left my stock so it read slower than what I was actually doing. I drive with the gps anyway. I havn't noticed any difference in shifting. Its only off 7mph. But my warrenty will last longer. :D

Its funny you mention that - So you could in theory use like 1000 revs per a mile for like a tiny tire and you could only register like 60 miles for every 100 you traveled...

Against the law? :D

No, just to busy( I mean lazy) to get it done right. Its been like this for two years now. I bought my truck as an unwind with only 239 miles on it. It already had the 315's on it. I was $29,000 out the door so I couldn't complain. To bad the BD downloader can't change it.

Back from the dead ...

How are these tires holding up??

Pretty good, I'll go do a measurement and let ya know how about 5 month/7k miles has treated them...

All in all, not a bad tire. Just too much sidewall flex, IMO

7,000 miles in only 5 moths? Tommy, tell the truth, could you really walk to work instead of driving? :)

I have about 8000 miles on mine, same tire, 295's. Includes one 1400 mile trip from Minneapolis to Detroit and back. I got them Just before thanksgiving (4. 5 months-ish)

Honestly, they are ok, But they need to be E rated to be usefull for the amount of weight this CTD has upfront if you plan to really push the limits of the truck.

Dry performace, the stockers will out perform these all day long. But, we'll see what I can do when the salt and sand and a few good rain stoms clear off the roads around here. I got these just before winter so it's tough to be totaly sure about this. Alot of over steer is needed.

Wet, snow, light dirt they do rather well. I can only compare these to the BFG A/T's that I run on my jeep, so it's not apples to apples here. But I think the BFG's do a better over all job. Yes, I can get to a higher speed then the stockers in snow and wet quicker.

As for dry. They spin easly. They flex alot (tried 45 - 70psi, I've settled at 50psi). They feel as they are to fold over on tight turns.

It took a while to get used to how the tires react. I have about 100hp less then tommy at the wheels so he's got it much worse (for now! :D). For example If your on the throttle on a slight turn and back off, the truck will now be in an over steer and while on the same turning radius. The same is true if you jump on the go peddle while on a lazy turn, you'll have to over steer quite a bit to keep from changing a lane.

I'm sure when the ConFE is in place, I'll be hazing the tires though 3rd and 4th gears while in 2x4.

Stopping, I'm rather impressed with this aspect, they do hold the pavment well when you get on the breaks

They look GOOD!. They put the truck at a better stance.

use 606RPM for your pinior factor correction. This was right on the money with the GPS and exactly relative to the stockers in regards to difference between speedo and GPS numbers. ( alsmost 1mph difference)

I hope I can buy bigger wheels and a tire with a shorter sidewall when these are due to be replaced. But I think I'll do with the E rated BFG's next time if this isn't the case.

man you hit the nail on the head. If you are full steam and back out of it on a turn, the tires will wiggle and make you correct.

I even notice it on a launch, I have to correct to the right, correct to let on heavy braking... I tried the stock while I had them on, and they do not do that.

E-rated for sure for me next time

On Nitto's website they state their 295 tire is only 33. 19 tall. Unlike the BFG tire at 33. 26" tall. Those with the 605 or 606 number would be correct for the BFG but I think the Nitto is closer to the 626 number in a MILE. Its a very small diameter change but with 600 or so rev's per mile it ads up.
