Incredible Battle of the Beasts!

anybody have any experience with springfield armory firearms? i just bought a new XD-45 from the local dealer, is a nice looking gun. i was going to go with a glock but the guy behind the counter showed me how much better the xd's are built by tearing them both down side by side... :-{}

he said the xd will do anything the glock will they just dont hipe it up as glock does? i hope to get some range time with it soon, any opinions anybody got one of these?

I REALLY like the XD line of pistols. I've put probably 1500 rounds down range with an XD40. Very reliable, and I like the redundant safety. The XD's pointed way better for me than the Glocks. I had to be very concious of where I was aiming with the Glock. The XD I could pull it up and point shoot more accurately. The XD grip angle was designed after the 1911.

I purchased a Springfield Loaded Champion 1911A1. The next 2 pistols on my list to purchase are a Kahr and an XD, both in . 45.

I really don't think you will be dissappointed with your Purchase. Springfield also has customer service that is second to none.

XD's are nice weapons. They are my number 2 choice behind the HK's. As far as . 45's I still prefer the Kimbers for 1911 variants. My previous states Department of Corrections did 3 years of testing before they made the change from . 38's to automatics. The XD 9 was their final selection based on a number of reasons. We unfortunately have Glocks. Have never liked them and still don't after thousands and thousands of rounds. Hope you like it. Shoot lots!

I was going to buy one when they were $199. I think they were called HS2000 then. Made in Croatia.

I'm torn between a few choices too.

I'd really like to get a 10mm, so that helps narrow it down a bit.

10mm does limit your choices a bit especially if you are looking new. I always liked the round, but it never gained the popularity it should have. A little too expensive to buy ammo, but truly a reloaders round. The recoil can be too heavy for a percentage of shooters, but the power and velocity is there when you need it. Someday I will add one to my collection, but the weapons purchases are on hold for a little bit.

I carry an xd 40 3" barrel, nice carry, gun plenty of knock down power !!!

Next gun will be an xd 40 4" barrel, a little easier to handle in an 40 caliber ...

I was going to pick one up BEFORE I got my Kimber Pro eclipseII Custom. But I set myself back with the Kimber as it was pricey and bang toys are dead last when it comes to spare cash.

Many guys here have em and absolutly are 100% satisfied with them. Springfield did their homework on the ejector setup that is for sure.

Since Glocks were mentioned in this thread, I've gotta put my 2 cents in. I don't have any experience with the XD's. However, I have put thousands of rounds through various Glocks and love them. I highly recommend them. I'm sure the XD's are great weapons, It is just a matter of what you prefer and trust. That's Glock for me!

Girlfriend just got the XD-40 compact, loves it. Buddy has the XD-45 full size, loves it. I've shot them both, love them. Not so crazy about the Glocks. I have a HK compact USP 45. Nice weapon but I get a better grouping with a XD-45 out of the box than my HK. Not sure why, I know it feels more stable in my hands. Next gun (I do rifles for the most part) will be a XD-45 compact.

I haven't met any (that of course doesn't mean the brand loyals aren't out there) people that have had the opportunity to shoot both weapons side by side that didn't hands down prefer the XD's. As a professional glock user (not by choice) and avid (freak) shooter I won't ever own a Glock. I don't own any XD's yet, but have run thousands of rounds through them, Glocks, Sigs and 10's of thousands through H&K's. The Glock is a distant 4th. The Glocks are still good reliable weapons and a large percentage of agencies utilize them, but the prevailing reason is price. I understand the preference and trust required for a carry weapon and the amount of time it takes to get there, but if you get a chance give some of the other weapons a chance. They will surprise you. Springfield definitely did their homework. I am a DIE-HARD H&K user, but the Springfields are exceptionally nice and I would not hesitate to own and carry one on a personal or professional level.

Cummins Pilot

There are few compact auto's that can carry groups as well as a full size model.

Keep Shooting

I have an XD40 Tactical (5") with about 1000 rounds through it. One magazine tends to hand up on the last round. It doesn't always feed. This was with one brand of ammo. I switched brands and didn't have that problem. The difference between bargain basement and higher quality. I don't use it as a defensive weapon, so the hang up is annoying, not deadly. Other than that, I like the simplicity of takedown and cleaning. I can do it in the dark. I'd highly recommend the XD series. I'd like to get one in the 3" some day.

Just a quick question----did you try it before you bought it?

XD's shoot well, they just don't appeal asthetically to me, so I haven't bought one yet. Maybe someday. Nice firearms, and if it fits your hand and fits your eye, you should like it.
