I installed my boost gauge, last Summer, and used the manifold test port just behind the fuel filter (2001). I'm curious if any of you have tried that location, then switch to tapping the intake manifold horn, and if you saw any difference in boost pressures??? I installed an EZ with boost elbow, and only see an increase from 18 psi to about 25-25 psi. Edge says this is normal for my 2001 ETC. Any other opinions???

I guess I needed to be more specific in my question. I was wondering if anyone saw a difference in boost by where they hooked up their gauge to. The manifold test port just behind the filter, or tapped into the intake horn. The only one who would know this is someone who started out with one and then went to the other location...

The elbow came with the EZ. I don't know if you can use just the elbow without the EZ. I think you will set an overboost code using it without the EZ. I could be wrong.

DRR-24V is right, without a boost module you will set an overboost code, and need a scanner or a dealer to reset it. If you have a boost module and are looking at getting the adjustable elbow to adjust your boost pressure you will be better served ajusting the wastegate. Hope this helps.

You will also not gain full power potential with just a elbow and no module. The reason is without the module and just a elbow is the MAP sensor see's over boost and tells the ecm which in turn tells the injector pump to start defueling.

Rick,

Cannot help you on your question of boost line placement, but with just the EZ the pressures sound about right.

C. D. Day, Just give BD or whoever you bought the plug-in-power from and they should send you a elbow at no cost (it should have been included).

I don't think you will see much difference between the test port and elbow locations concerning your boost. The pressure after the intercooler is pretty constant in the system. I like the test port because it is right behind the MAP sensor so you are seeing what it is seeing. Maybe think of it like an air compressor. You can check the pressure where you hook up the line or you can check it at the end of your 50 foot hose. The difference is negligible because the pressure is going to equalize under static conditions. Start putting some air in a tire or something and you cause a momentary "low" pressure at the end of the hose but it equalizes as soon as you stop the flow. Same in your intake system.

Alan,

That's about what I had figured... Was just curious if anybody had done both locations and found any difference... ;)

manifold pressure

mine is in the test port. only downside i've found (Alan told me what it was) is the valve noise transmitted through the tubing. interestingly, it quiets down after the engine is fully warm. that probably wouldn't be a problem with the intake drilled and tapped. much easier to put in the test port. i can stand the noise when cold.
