I bought the injectors off of ebay. Good price and prompt shipment. Its 105 in the sun today (Tucson) But i said what the heck. I followed the instructions that a member emailed to me, to the letter. Step by step. 2 1/2 hours total time. Never done these before, but i am a CAT mechanic. I think somebody with skill enough to do an oil change or brake job, could tackle this quite easily. The hardest part of the whole job was loosening the rear engine lift eye bolts. How does it run??? HAHAHA I have a VA box and now the 275's. There is a fairly big lag when rompted on, and a good deal of black smoke then vroooooom after spool up. Dang, it hauls butt. I dont tow anything yet, so cant compare that. But while ime on it from 10 mph to 50. i do leave a steady stream of smoke. Never used to with just the VA. Its not bad or anything, but is noticable. So do i now need gauges???? RRR

My condolences on working on Cat engine. I would get gauges very soon if for no other reason than to know what the engine is running while playing and or towing and in the future if you go BIGGER then you know how much of a difference the change made.

Sounds like you need a new waist gate elbow (adjustable) and a boost fooler. now that you got fuel, you need more air then the truck will allow with the stock pressures. I would turn it up to around 28psi. Unless you got one of those new VA's with the boost module built in, if thats the case, you can get it reprogramed to lower the smoke with those new injectors.

My '99 with an Edge EZ would go over 1200* fairly quick after the 275s were added, after I got the boost up to 26 psi it wont go over 1150, I would get gauges before you pull hard with the truck. I dont think you can use a waste gate elbow on an auto truck (hy35 turbo with hardline waste gate?) try a search on "turnbuckle" to increase boost with the hy35.

Need gauges

:--) WHAT NO GAUGES Yes you need them yesterday. I know that with the 275's and a box you can slip a clutch. With a big lag it sounds like you might have a boost leak. You might want to check the 9 clamps they should be at 95 INCH LBS. Eric

There was a 2000 CTD BURNED DOWN with just a VA and NO OTHER MODS!!!!!! Shortblock cost that guy $10K before it was done and over.

GET SOME GAUGES!!!!!!!

Justin, installation of the shortblock at Cummins with all associated parts, labor and troubleshooting ended up TEN GRAND.

I just put a set of 275s in yesterday. This truck really woke up. It runs like I think it should have when I bought it stock. I used to have a lag when I shifted into OD getting onto the freeway. I don't anymore! There is no lag with mine, and no black smoke but I'm not running any type of box either. The only thing that I noticed is a different sound from the air side of the engine at idle, kind of like it was trying to suck air with a deeper thumping sound. Hard to explain the sound but diferent from stock. I'm running the K&N and my oil report from Blackstone showed 3 ppm. I think I'll try the AFE Proguard 7.

i put 275s in a month or so ago with a three stage edge (90 hp) in fifth and sixth the clutch will slip (36 psi boost) running 70 mph uphill mine will run to 1100-1200 quick, if you accelerate 1500 like nothing, buy you some gauges fast.
