I tried all things before I got a new block, I tried stop leak, drill and tap meathod, JB weld, none worked. . all leaked later. . In fact, one person did a drill and tap, got it to stop leaking, tested his repair by towing his 5th up a hill, got another crack 3" away from the first. . when I read that, I knew there was no fix for it...

One of the guys here had the same problem... . split it the first time on the Dyno. He did the lock 'n stitch, and the broke it again on the race track I believe..... finally ending up with a new block.

My '01 had the 53 block, and thankfully I didn't have any issues with it before I sold it. I didn't sell the truck to get rid of the 53 necessarily, but it did weigh in to my decision when it came time to consider a new Quad Cab.
