Man it felt great to toss that dirty little piece of engineering stupidity. A truck with only 3500 miles on it and that thing was already getting oil everywhere. I went and got 3 feet of 3/8 fuel line, removed the bottle, took off the factory hose piece that attaches to the engine. I think sliped what i bought into the factory piece and zip tied it nice and tight so i dont have to worry about it leaking or falling off. I then routed my hose down to terminate right where the lower control arm attaches to the front axle. Yes i know that i could have went back further but having it spray from there back doesnt really bother me. Now my engine will stay clean and i wont smell oil. :D :D :D A very quick worthwhile mod.

AIRSEP

I just got my first issue of TDR and there is an add for AIRSEP that supposedly takes care of this problem. Was gonna check out their website but thot I would ask if any of you have used it. In other discussions about the bottle this AIRSEP ahs never come up. Well, and I'll do a search on it also, keep forgetting bout that. Robin

The Walker Airsep is a nice unit- if you have the money to spend, and if you do alot of sustained climbing or decents (off road).

I simply removed the bottle, extended the hose down a foot or so (past the engine) cut it off at a slight angle and called it a day.

I spray a little simple green up there every oil change as I'm cleaning up and wipe it out a bit. The only drips on the driveway are from the Caravan  .

Your fix works great in the nice warm climates of most of Nth America. I got tired of the crud all over the front of the engine and ran a hose exactly as you did, being careful to ensure it was angled steeply down. 2 weeks later, winter brought us -20 temps and condensation iced right at the end of the hose and blew out the side tappet cover... ... got the engine shut off with 5 qts of oil to spare. Needless to say I'm back to puking oil from the front to the rear.

To keep that from happening 5horses you need to use a little dirt bike trick. Cut the hose in half on the bottom that way when ice and crud get up in there the hose can expand and let eveything fall out. -20 is a bit extreme but im sure you can find a solution to dirty engine syndrome.

At the bottom end of the hose, I cut it at a 45 degree angle. The hose is then rotated so that the opening of the hose is protected against wind. Not sure if this would help at -20 or not. Have others ran into similar icing with this fix?

Blow by hose

A trick that has been done to gassers (should work on smokers) is to use a one way valve and vent the blow by into the exhaust. We used a check valve that came from an emission smog air pump and welded it to the collector. Any oil would be burned up in there. It would create a negative pressure in the crankcase. If you weld the check valve on a angle it will have a venturi effect and draw the gasses out. Should get rid of the oil smell too.

Any thoughts? have not tried it yet but I might.
