Cell phone numbers used to be unique from land line numbers. In other words, the cell phone companies would be given blocks of numbers at the 3 digit exchange level and were used for cell phones only. That being the case, it was easy for tellimarketers to avoid calling cell phones since they new that cell phone calls would upset people. Now that the industry has implemented "portable" phone numbes, allowing you to transfer a home phone number to a cell phone, it will be difficult for the tellimarketers to know the difference. Also keep in mind that before the "no call" lists were implemented, the tellimarters may have used a computer to just dial consectutive numbers w/o regard to who had the numbers.

If you are getting calls on cell phone it is from listing number with someone that has since sold number to a telemarketing firm. keep tight reign on who you give cell numbers to; I don't give mine to any business even if I call them , my CC company, bank, anyone. Wife gave her number on one of those sign up and win a free vacation or gym things and is hounded on her phone to the point she most likely will need a new number.

i've gotten a telemarketer calling my cell once, and while i was driving too... normally i don't even answer while driving, but i did this time... oh man, i swear a lot normally [especially at work] but over the phone or typing, usually never... man i could have made some old sailers blush with the language i gave that telemarketer [and it was being recorded to boot... ] never have had a call back from them...
