Thought I'd introduce myself. Just picked up my first Ram. It's a 2500 CTD 2x4. Bought it from Tom Chaney (really great experience) out of St. Louis. Here's a picture from yesterday:

Oddly enough, we used a friend's 4x4 to tow our bikes to the border for 6 days of riding in the Creel, Mexico area.

So I got to read his owner's manual on the trip. And he dropped me off on the way home to Nashville to pick it up from Lou Fusz in St. Louis on the way home. Apparently it was made in Mexico--too bad I couldn't have picked it up there and saved the freight! :)

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself--I've already learned a lot just from reading the forums here.

Very nice rig! I'm in/near Memphis, how hard was it dealing "out of state"...

No problems, really. You get a temp tag ($7. 50) like usual, then pay the gawdawful sales tax when you license the vehicle back here in TN, but you'd have to do that anyway.

Only thing different from MO, for instance, is that in TN...

a) Title goes to lienholder. *

b) You pay sales tax on amount before rebate, not after.

*Speaking of a lien, how stupid is it for Chrysler to require you to borrow money in order to qualify for one of the rebates. I had the money saved and didn't really I wouldn't qualify unless I borrowed the money. So I'll make a few payments and then pay it off. But it seems darn silly for DC to make all that extra work for themselves. It seems like they are more interested in selling credit than selling trucks.

Not yet, but you'll get there. Keep that credit card handy.

Yes, I'm thinking this could get expensive! I'm going to leave the truck pretty much stock (mechanically) for 10,000 miles or so. I don't really need anything to be different, and that'll give me a chance to find it's strengths and weaknesses.

Welcome to the TDR...

I was told, by my salesman, that you had to make at least 3 payments before you can refy or pay it off. Fellow TDR members have said that this isn't true. You can pay it off or refy it immediately. You don't have to make several payments... ;)

Chrysler Financial Division... . they ARE more interested in selling credit that trucks... . loans is how they make their money... . just like any other company, different divisions have different ways of making money.....

btw: Welcome to TDR... you'll love the truck.....

Enjoy

Welcome to the group. Just remember to keep your wallet close at all times.

This is a great place if you have questions on your truck. There are many people in the group who have great amounts of experiance.
