changing seals any special tolls needed?

i got my con ofe today now i have to install it. i am planning on changing the rear oil seal and the front one on the nv5600. do i need any special tools for removing or installing them?

To change the rear seal on the NV5600, you will have to split the transfer case off of it. Unless you are looking for more work to do, I'd probably skip that as I have heard zero complaints about them leaking. If you have done many clutches, you will find this to be one of the easiest you have ever attempted IF you have access to a heavy duty transmission jack (I rented one), a good set of basic tools, and leave the transfer case attached.

Changing the front seal may not be a bad idea, but if the current seal is not leaking, it is possible that you may create more problems than you are solving by changing it.

Remember to NOT over lube the throwout bearing or dust will build up in that area and cause the clutch to bind and not release properly down the road.

BTW, I still have the stock hydraulics on mine at 90,000 and did the OFE at 40,000 and have had zero problems.

i got the trans down at school and i have to get a new flywheel. The front seal was busted and the housing is dirty as hell so is the clutch and flywheel. Dodge has sent me the wrong seal and guide twice and i am waiting for it to come in tomorrow.



We got my truck on the lift and transmisson/transfer case on two transmisson jacks.

I've heard that the OEM flywheel has a slight taper to it and might cause an issue, have the flywheel checked for this. My D/C trany friend told me about this, so if your flywheel can be cut to a flat surface, I would check into it first.
