That's right, I just got it home and went back out in the garage a little while later and noticed a 2" oil puddle under the truck! I crawled under and it look to be coming from between the bell housing and the block! I realize nothing lasts forever but geez, it's only got 58 miles on it! It's going back to the dealership in the morning. I really have been happy with the service they've given me on my '01, so I know they'll take care of me. It still sucks though. I hope it's nothing serious. I haven't updated my sig yet. It's a white '04. 5 3500 SRW QC SB 6spd/4. 10 SLT with the Off Road Package (with red shocks!).

Craig,

The same thing happened to me with my 2002 ... the dealer changed gaskets and the truck ran without ANY problem for almost 90,000 miles before anything else happened! :D

Heads up ... it's going to be OK!

That's a bummer! Am curious- from which dealer did you get it?

BTW- thanks for the rear bumper. Have yet to find the time to put it on, but it will be an improvement when it does.

Mine did the same thing. Turns out Dodge discontinued the drip bottle that was at the bottom of the breather tube and all that blowby from the new eng drifts back and runs down the bell housing. Now that it's broken in it stays pretty much clean down there.

I was positive it was coming from the rear main too, it was even up inside the bell housing weep hole. But, after getting it on a hoist and taking a closer look I could see the trail. I hope it turns out to be something easy like this - Good luck!

Believe it or not, if the valve cover is leaking at the rear, it will run down between the bell housing and the engine. Mine did.

Well, I dropped it off this morning(after a sleepless night) and the dealer put it up a lift immediately. The techs, who I have a great relationship with, diagnosed it as a rear main seal or rear main adapter. That meant the transmission was coming out. My salesman never flinched when I asked about getting a different truck. The only problem was, he couldn't find one exactly like mine. So, I decided to see what would happen when they got the transmission out. It turns out, on the back of the engine block, where the camshaft is, there is supposed to be a seal (like a freezeplug I guess), but mine was missing that seal. It was a very obvious cause and correction. I should have it back tomorrow afternoon. BTW, they said mine was the 2nd one they've seen like that. Now, I just hope it's put back together like new.

I got the truck back this afternoon, it's been parked in the garage for a few hours and no leaks. Everything seems to be good. I do have the vibration at 65-75 mph. That was there before. I thought it was the concrete freeway I was on but since now I've driven it on other roads, I know it's not that. It's most noticable at 72 mph. What's this about a TSB for the vibe?
