can't wait to see how you like it. I've been debating this for a while. I am up in the air between Goerend and SUncoast. How many miles did you have on your original trans?

TCDiesel: Could you pls. comment on my following transmission temp puzzle? Thanks much.

Update to my recent Derale Hyper Cool Trans Cooler install. Curently traveling to SE Kentucky, I'm seeing confusing temperatures (small IR tool I use for chk'g tires & bearing hubs) resulting in no Derale cooling fan action. Is my OEM sensor bad? Banks PDA display bad? Whaat's up doc?

Trans pan - 176

Hot Trans out line - 156

OEM cooler return line at Trans (continues past transmission to aux cooler inlet) - 144

OEM sensor via ODB/Banks PDA port - 195

------------------------------------

Ambient - 66

Lube Oil pan - 192

14K# 5th Wheel = 21500 GCVW

60-65 MPH, Towhaul, Cruise Cntl.

The OEM trans temp sensor is in the pan mounted on the valve body. It's immersed in fluid so the readings should be fairly accurate. 195 at the OEM sensor, if your PDA is correct, is on the high side. Remember any readings you take with an IR gun will be outside surfaces not necessarily reflecting the actual internal temp.

How is your cooler hooked up? I think you are saying the return line is connected to your cooler inlet? You should be sending your hot fluid right out of the heat exchanger on the side of the engine into the inlet of the cooler.

Fluid goes from the TC, up to the exchanger and back down to the rear of the trans. I cut that line and rotated the rear part to face backwards.

A lot of the CEL problems are from the triple disk low stalls and the way the trans gets setup. A single one almost never has issues with unless it is really tight.

I've got DTTs super single TC on the 06 and I get the 1740 frequently . They used to "grade" their TC 89%,91%, &93%, but now they make each one custom based of truck set up. The converter on my 06 doesn't seem nearly as tight as the 89% on my 01.

transmission is in!

transmission is in, Man oh man is it awesome! When I first put it in it was real laggy, I had my smarty tq management on mild and on level 4. I moved it to level 8 and wild tqm. made it much better. Now she smokes like a chimney , but she screams! I could be going 40 mph and floor it and she will go sideways! :-laf:-laf

A bit scary when trying to merge onto the highway:eek:

Be careful running that tqm 4. I believe that can smoke even the best trans. I've never been past tqm 2 on mine.

Im so happy I live 30 minutes from Dave! He has been building me trannies for mild to wild for many many years and Ive never had a complaint yet from the hundreds that Ive installed!

Probably got about 1000 miles on her now still runs great. Only thing I noticed is when the truck sits at least 24 hrs and I put the truck in gear, it won't move for a few seconds. After that she runs fine. I wonder if its the TC drainback valve. I'll give goerends a call tomorrow and see what they think

Mine does the same thing, but only if I put the truck in gear right after starting it. If I let her idle a moment, then put her in gear, it doesn't do it.

I called them today they said sometimes the check valve may stick causing the problem and that the TC will fill in neutral and not in Park. I might try a new check valve and see if that solves the problem.

Like Hoot said it is actually in one the cooler lines its not really a big deal just wanted to make sure nothing is wrong!
