. . then BOOM! Another boost tube went. Had him through the intersection by a hood, then this happens. Dang it! Glad I was by the house, so I limped back. This time it's on with a little hair spray. Suave Extra Hold. LOL

I had one yesterday. We were already at 30 when my blinker came on to come into his lane and he decided to be... . well inconsiderate. Obviously he got the jump on putting the hammer down but he ended up in my rear view mirror :-laf

Not even sure how much boost. I know I blew the same tube about a month ago while towing (climbing). It was just me not tighting it up when I put the turbo in. When I fixed it a month ago I was on the freeway with pliers so I'm sure I didn't get tightened back up. Believe me now it's on there. As for boost, I've never seen more then 43

Heck I'd like to know how you guys are getting that much boost out of you turbos, i've never seen anything over 23 on my truck.

Ahh I gotcha. :D Yeah, doing those roadside repairs can suck sometimes. :D

Bill7975- I take it your truck is a 305 motor before the mid year switch to 325? If so your factory wastegate is set around 20-25 psi to open. You need to install a boost elbow to get the higher boost numbers.

I'm still stock and I'm batting in at right at 35#.

I think it might have something to do that you have an auto and I've got a 6spd, Bill. I'm able to run the RPM's up higher creating more boost. I get my highest pressure from 5th and 6th gears. 4th and below unloaded I hit about 20 before the RPM's are getting up there. in 5th, 35# at over 2000rpm is fun and scary at the same time  :-laf

I'm just wondering what an extra 140hp would be like with a box :D

What lmills said. Boost elbow and TST and I am seeing 42max, 38 sustained. Truck goes like a banshee. Stock turbo for a year of this. Tick... . tick... . tick.....

You need to install a boost elbow to get the higher boost numbers.
No - you need a bigger turbo to get those higher boost numbers. The stocker WILL come apart if you run it too hard - and 35-40psi is too much for the little HY on the '03-'04.

I know, I know... "but I'm running mine at xx PSI and it's just fine". Sure it is... they're all "just fine" right up to the moment they disintegrate.

factory turbos are running in the 30 psi range everyday on the 66 and 610 motors. they aren't just waiting to blow. running higher than 32-35 psi is out of its efficiency range, but is possible. I put 105,000 miles on my 01 and its hy35 saw 35-40 psi every day of its life
