Just how loud is it with no Muffler?

Much to my surprise, when I asked my woman if she thought I should put a muffler on she said NO! she likes it that way! Cruising on the hwy, the straight pipe is virtually unnoticeable, even w/ the windows open. Its loud around town but I find the sound is pleasant, almost relaxing really #ad


Me & the Mrs like the straight pipe sound but the turbo ring got put back in almost immediately.
W/ the K&N oval & T-ring out it has an incredibly OBNOXIOUS wine just at the wrong pitch! Even I could not stand it!

Just had the muffler and res. taken off of my 2001. Had a Flowmaster put on. Just the right sound. Is not any louder. Just a deeper sound.

Gotta agree with Scott on this one,LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!!It does not matter if it is my unpiped CTD or my buddy's over 100" Porker Piped fat sounding H-D,,it can be summed up in one word like it or not,,That word is "STYLE",,Everybody has their own taste and kind,so bashing the UNPIPED crowd won't bother me,,Unpiped the next best thing sounding to a HEMI,,HMMM,Lets see here,could be,BUT,THE HEMI UNMUFFLERED IS STILL THE KING!!NOTHING CAN EQUAL IT!!As "Bullet Bob" Reed said at the E-Town Mopar show a few years ago"There are two types of racers,Those who race HEMI's and those who wish they did"

Had my mufler and resonator replaced Friday with straight pipe and agree with the others. It has that big sound outside and the mellow purr on the inside. A heavy foot can make the exhaust kackle. Easy does it keeps peace in the neighborhood. I percieve some increase power and faster spool up of the turbo. Haven't chased the truck yet to really hear it. Couldn't say about EGTs as I haven't guaged yet. I can only imagine a 4" straight piped beast. Go for it! You'll like the difference!

If it's too loud, you're too old. No harm intended. I thinks it's awesome when I'm sitting at a red light with someone in the lane beside me, stereo boomin and the next thing you know, up goes their window. Stock 3" with kitty and muffler MIA. At 75 with the windows up, can't tell the difference from inside but, when you pass the pokey person doing 55, it will shake em up. 4" exhaust without muffler coming soon. I like watching the neighbors rush to the street with their garbage in hand at 430am when I go to work. They think its the big stinky truck coming to pick up. Sorry to disappoint them, only me.

Hey Mike,i'm going leave the stock down pipe on and split it to[2] 4''and go up along cab with twin cooling towers,powder coat them and put s/s guards next to cab. I got all the stuff just need some time to fab it all,when I do,there will be pics all over this web/site I can't wait to hear it,I have 24 valve with B-D brake that otta sound pretty cool also. good luck with yours. I would like to see what your project looks like when you are done. I have a Sport and would love to have twin cooling towers.
