i just installed a westach fuel pressure gauge. the gauge is a 0-16 psi. i got it all installed and everything and fired the truck up. all i got was 4 psi on the gauge. first thing i thought was i had it hooked up wrong. checked everything and all matched up with the paper i got to install it. it seems to idle at about 4 psi. going down the road it is usually about 1. 5 to 2 psi. WOT it goes to zero real quick. the way i have it hooked up is one power wire from the fuse panel for supply power. one wire goes to the sending unit from the gauge. the other is a ground from the gauge to the sending unit. i have another wire from the sending unit which is a ground on the other post of the sending unit and i have this wire and the ground from the gauge ground to the same point. i did have the ground from the gauge running straight to the sending unit but moved them to a bolt where i ground them at the same point. this may be a little hard to follow and let me know, i can take a picture to try to help you guys out. i just want to make sure i have it hooked up right before i buy a new lift pump. oh, by the way, i have a tapped banjo fitting on the inlet of the injection pump with a grease hose extension to absorb vibration which is about 12'' long. the sending unit is then mounted on the end of the grease hose. i did bleed the hose to make sure there wasn't any air in the line that would affect the reading. any help will be greatly helpful.
