A question for all you wizards... .

I have the stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel. Due to the after market stereo these are no longer in use. How difficult would it be to wire one of these as a momentary contact button??

BTW, thanks for the PM Joe.

Those buttons are what are called Voltage Coded switches. Basically, ALL the switches operate by the same 2 wires. A control unit sends a set voltage, lets say 5 volts to the buttons. When one is pressed it has a set resistance that drops the voltage to lets say 3 volts. The computer knows when it sees 3 volts that it should turn the volume up. On down the line. It's a great idea, and that also explains why you cant hit 2 switches at once. The Computer is programed to see one change in voltage, and if it sees another while it's at, again lets say the 3 volts, it won't change the function. It has to see a momentary 5 volts again before it will change.

These buttons are probably not a great idea to tap into... . I'd have to see a GOOD wiring diagram before I'd say go for it.

On the same token, if it's possible to use them, it would be ANY of the steering wheel buttons that would activate it. Like DJ said you would definatly have to use a relay.
