Thanks, TDR Staff

I still haven't received my TDR magazine, is this normal

SpellCheck glitches Again

There may be more women on this site than I thought there were.

Think about it guys, this is a TDR milestone, a celebration. It's just like any other company giving away items for the 1,000,000th customer or whatever the goal was at the time. Didn't Cummins or DC give something away for the one million'th 5. 9 built? What did you get?

I know there alot of guys crying about the $35/yr cost (maybe not people on this site, but other sites) That $35 is chump change for the information you get every single day. The first group purchase you were part of, I'm sure paid for your membership, everything else after that is free, more less.

So as far as I'm concerend, the TDR gives me something every day. However, I did sign up for the new closest guess to the 20,000th member date contest. :D

I'm glad I joined the TDR for the information I've found and never even knew about the giveaways. Clutches? I drive an automatic  How about next time giving a torque converter :D

Even without any giveaways I'm still glad I joined and even though it's nearly a year away I'm planning to renew. :)

Rob Thomas was right. This is a celebration for attaining 20000 people joining TDR, even if they all are not still members. As far as I'm concerned, we all should be giving a gift, prize, or token of appreciation to the folks at TDR for acheiving such a milestone! If you think of that game, " 5 (or is it 7?) degrees to Kevin Bacon," who knows what our new member could bring.

As for me, I hardly ever post but check the site out almost daily. As a result, I know more about my truck that I ever would. I used this site researching my first CTD purchase, which greatly improved my purchase value.

I do have one complaint..... I've now got the bombing bug, is there a vaccine available?

Steve, keep up the great work and I for one will not get my shorts in a bunch over a jacket. Now if yall were giving away a Bell 407 with a belt fed weapon in the chin I would get a little cranky about not being picked.

Ok so as a member you feel your getting your $35 dollars worth. As a collective membership do we think we are getting our $700,000 worth?

IMO the only benefit to being a TDR member is full access to this site. It is a great site that is well thought out and well maintained. But I feel the ultimate value of this site is knowledge which is supplied by the members, not the TDR staff. What does it cost to run this site? How much does advertising pay for?

I have no idea what the printing and distribution cost are for the quartery but it is worth questioning its value. Perhaps a semi annual edition would be sufficient. Are we paying to mail the Genos catalog or is Geno's paying us? If they are paying us add that to the roughly $700,000 in membership fees. Likewise, there are advertisers all over this site and in the quarterly (you can recognize the adds in the quartery by the acceptable photo quality and color!) so add that to the $700,000.

There is a lot of money involved here. I just wonder if it is really providing maximum benefit for the collective membership. Paying your $35 and being happy does not make you a "sheep" and paying your $35 and asking where your money goes does not make you a selfish socialist either. So are we really members or are we just glorified subscribers? If we truly are a membership that is kicking out $700,000 a year we should all want to know what are the visions and plans for the future?

Gee ,I guess it's really bigger than a jacket give away.

I don't care how much money the TDR makes, as long as it's enough to maintain it and compensate for the long hours and efforts of it's creators.

Bottom line to me is, if the boss aint makin no money, the employee's won't have a job!

Substitue the word "members" for employees in this case.

If it cost $100/ year to be a member here, I'd be one of the first to ruck up and pay.

Membership here is priceless IMO.

Wasn't this thread about the promotion?

Steve and Robin made good on our complaints.

The "Guess the Date Contest" levels the playing field so that old and new members have a similar chance at the goodies...

We all have a right to voice our opinions.

Matt - doesn't wear an earing, yet is still labeled as a woman.

Easy, Rob, he is just a newbie, hasn't gotten to know you yet !:-laf :-laf :-laf :-laf

I think its a great promotion. I could care less if I win anything or not. This is a milestone that should be celebrated. I am glad that i am a member and the only thing that would be nice as stated above, is if this merchandise would be offered anytime to anyone... ... . ie: leather jacket etc. Keep up the good work guys.

Rob said: "Is that a dig? :p"

Ummm... . yeah. Just messin' with ya. :-laf

You and Gene catch a lot of flack from people... and dish it out... so it all balances in the end.

I can understand Gene catching loads of flack, he deserves it -- but me... ... ... ... ... I'm innocent! :D ;)

Actually there are less then 13,000 actual paying members. That is roughly $455,000. Still a good chunk of change though. I wish I would of thought of this. ;) :D

Who thinks that the membership should be raised?

I would pay $50. It was $35 10 years ago. Let the cry babies cry somewhere else.

Uh,, If you think the price should be raised... I'd have to ask what you are under the influence of. .

Is it worth more? Yes. Would I pay more? Yes,, Would I be happy about it, like I am now? No.

TDR is a site I don't think I will ever leave. when you join TDR, it's like joining a Family.

Just attend a Diesel gathering, event, or have a problem, and you'll understand.

Maybe the influence of guilt. When I look at the price paid for the entertainment given. I'ts hard for me to see people question the yearly cost. Last week my wife and I had a bad dinner and a cheap bottle of wine. The bill was $153. Those who enjoy this website probably spend more a year on bug spray. Lets not be cheap. This is a great service.

Having peeked at this web site for free for years adds to my guilt.

ITS ONLY 35 BUCKS A YEAR !!!

Thanks TDR
