I just ordered a set of Hadley Bully Air Horns for the truck. Oo. Oo.

I ordered the kit that has the solinoid instead of the lanyard. I am planning on mounting the horns behind the front bumper. The question that I have is does the kit use it's own switch or does it need to be tied into the existing horn button? I would prefer a separate switch. Is there an easy way of accomplishing this? Hopefully the install instructions for the kit are thourough?

Hey New England guys do we have any wrench days planned for the near future? If so I may hold off on installing them until then.

My hadleys's came with a switch. Excellent instructions on how to wire it. I have the choice of either using the Hadley's or the stock horn. A perfect place to mount the air tank is on the driver's side in back of the bumper. There is a bracket that attaches the fender to the frame. Take that out and drill a second hole for the tank. Thers's already one hole in the bracket that can be used. it cradles in real good. I then mounted the horns on the same bracket with another bracket on the passenger's side. the little compressor fits on the fender just below the windshield washer bottle.

hadley's are great......

STG..... i hooked mine up right to the horn wire. no need to switch between the stock mice and a real horn IMHO. mounted mine to the radiator cross member. using a metal plate for a bracket. mounted the tank on the frame rail under the pass seat.

don't knw of any wrench days soon but maybe TMTT can come up with something.

STG,

Just let me know when ya wanna put them in. Saturday or a Sunday, dosen't matter. Take a ride down and I'll help ya!

ToolMan,

Have you stopped taking the medication again. :D :D

Hopefully I can wait that long. Oo. It all depends on when the new REAL horns arrive. I know that I can not do anything on the weekend of the 22nd either. So if they don't come this week then you will be in luck.

Where would be a good place to mount the compressor and the tank?

I am going to be mounting the horns behind the front bumper on the radiator support.

Any ideas?

Thanks

STG--what are you running for an air filter? i've got the k&n cone... . mounted my compressor to one of the stock air box studs.

mounted my tank on the frame rail under the passenger seat.

the horns were attached to a metal plate attached to the radiator cross member. we ran everything thru the frame rails...

I've installed a couple of these and they're not bad. Mounted the air tank behind front bumper on support, all the way to the top there's one hole in support already, just drill one more. Compressor on same support just below air tank, remove compressor bracket and trash it, secure compressor to support with two radiator hose clamps, put some cut heater hose on support to isolate compressor. Works great, compressor is right next to tank and only need to run very short air hose to it. Mount air horns on left side bumper support, same thing, there's already one hole in it, just drill one more. Mount air horns facing slightly down. This for me was the best location, keeps everything away from road debris and water and the hadleys are right up front and nice and loud:D :D

It comes with a switch which you can tap into your existing horn wiring and switch from air horns to stock. Oh... by the way don't forget to install a one way valve that comes in a separate package for air tank.

PS. if you guys make it a wrench day and I'm available, I'll take a ride up. Next weekend I'll be heading south for a couple weeks vacation, can't wait. ;)

Fred.

I am still running the stock air box.

I think that mounting everything behind the front bumper will be the easiest and most convinient location.

Geez,

Where were all you NE guys when I had money for toys... bummer sounds like a good time wrenching on the trucks. . :(

Ah then again, moma don't know I'm saving up for my own hadleys. . a little father's day gift to myself.

Take good notes down there, maybe you all can give me some hints when I finally get my noise makers!!

David

(they are for my emergency med response trips, that is my story and I am sticking with it. . )

If you tell your wife that you need them to respond to the emergency calls you should have no problem convincing her that they are a necessity.

Since you are in VT you should keep an eye out for future meets. We usually try to get together about once a month or so.

Go luck on getting the Hadleys. I will let you know how the install goes.
