Hey guys I just ordered my mag-tech trans pan from Pier diesel I got the double deep pan for 250 15. 00 off not bad! My question is I have 26000 on the truck and I dont tow a whole lot but sometimes, I would like to convert over to amsoil trans fluid and how is the best way to get all the old fluid out and do you think I will need to go to amsoil? Also when you change the filter is it necessary to get out all the old fluid or just the 4qts and replace the filter and add 4qts thanks alot for your input!!:p

You can get 3, 4 maybe a little more quarts out by loosening the valve body bolts. Probably take 1/2 to 1 hour to drain. There is some way to get more by undoing a line and running the transmission in neutral I think but not sure of that procedure. Drain what you can replace the filter and filler up swapping in the Amsoil or whatever oil of choice. I personally prefer synthetics and I do use amsoil in the transmission but I wouldn't hesitate to use any other high quality synthetic in there either. Regular maintentance is probably just as important. You will love the new pan they are great.

Hi Crafty

I just installed my deep mag pan last week, really a wellbuilt pan but you got a better price than I did. You will find that the new pan will hold 9qts of oil. I use Amsoil all thru my truck.

To do a complete change of all your trans fliuid will take about 21 qts. To do this start out by filling your new pan with oil then disconect your cooler line which is right by the radator drain this will be the return line just find a hose that will fit the cooler pipe then stick the hose in a gallon jug , pump out 4 qts. add 4more qts. do this 3 more times and you should have the oil changed. You probally know that you have to have you transmission shifter in neutral while you are pumping out the oil. good luck.
