I just got an E-mail from U. S. TrucksWhse. and they said that my SteelHorse nerf bars are on factory back order and wouldn't be here until June. Why does this always happen to me? Just when I was getting over the fact that 2 people won my 365million in the Big Game lottery.

Anyone else have their SteelHorse products on back order? Well U. S. Trucks just lost a customer. I just called directly to Carparts.com and they told me to go out and buy any of Petersons publications to get the 1/3 off of my purchase. Wow,that'll save me $100. 00. It'll be worth the wait.

Carparts.com pulled a substitution on me. I ordered Steelhorse nerf bars for my Quad Cab and they sent Smittybilts. When I called, they said the Smittbilts were more expensive so got a deal. BS! If I had wanted shiny black nerf bars I would have ordered them. In any event, I put them on because I did not want to send them back and wait another two weeks for my order.

I do hope it works out for you.

I also ordered the steelhorse from carparts in March. They were on backorder from steelhorse untill last week. Arrived yesterday and now installed. The bars are perfect(had to tap out one hole that had a burr) but the installation kit sucks. Missing some bolts and all the brackets were badly scraped to bare metal. When you remove your body bolts the new bolts seem way to long but they do work. The bracket bolts to the bar are on the short side. I left off the washer so the bolt grip would be a little longer. I plan on talking with steelhorse about the install kit.

When I installed mine, I also noticed the short bolts - I just used the old body mount bolts (that were replaced with longer ones) instead and that worked fine. #ad
But I didn't have anything missing or scraped. #ad

I just got off the phone with the Carparts salesman and they're on order. I did get the 1/3 off by using the discount number out of FOURWHEELER magazine. The salesman told me that each copy has a different number to count readers of a particular magazine. He said they have discounts in 96 publications. I thumbed through OFFROAD magazine and the discount was only $50. 00

They'd better not pull a switcheroo on me. I'd hate it if I had to scrape off pieces of salesmen off of my beautiful truck, not that I'd get that violent but man this isn't the everyday grocery getter this is my Baby!

On second thought it is over 3000 miles away so if it happens I guess I'll just have to settle for giving them a nasty phone call.

Finally they arrived yesterday and I must say that Steel Horse must have been reading your posts. They sent 50% more bolts and washers and every thing seemed to fit just fine.

I mounted everything but the bracing straps and thought that I would ask some of you engineers who have put these on, about them.

Where would the bracing straps be the strongest at,the top or the base near the bottom of the rocker panel? And What would be better for a fastener other than the Zip screws that came with the kit? I just don't trust those screws. Has any one had problems with these screws?

Thanks

No problems with those screws yet - although I was kinda leery too. The best way to attach the strap is at the bottom of the brace where the step connects (like instructions say, I think) and lower on the body (to make at least a 45 degree angle with the bracket). Also when I attached the strap, I pushed up a little on the steps, so that the strap would be under a slight tension. By doing it like this, when I step on them they don't move at all. Send me an e-mail if this isn't too clear. Can send you a pic of mine also.
