Just thought I would share a pic of my old truck getting one of it's usual workouts. There is 7, 2200lbs round bales on the Gooseneck. They were hanging off about 2 feet on each side of the trailer. I figure the whole rig was weighing in about 27,500lbs. I have pulled a load like this 2 times now for a neighbor that totaled his Dodge CTD on ice this winter. The old truck does a pretty fair job pulling it down the road. The take off is the only real weak spot, but that is because of the Auto transmission, I can't wind it out. Bill

Looks Good

Hey Bill,

Looks good! I can agree with you on the slow launches with a full load of hay:) Makes the straight pipe sound good though. What kind of trailer do you have?

Jeremy

The trailer is a 24' Loadmaster. It has 20' bed and a 4' dovetail. It pulls nice and I have had no problems out of it. The only thing wrong with it is the weight. The durn thing weighs over 5,000lbs empty and it is only a single wheel tandem axle trailer. But being built heavy has it's advantages as being able to haul larger loads and not have to worry about it. It will definetley not fall apart, that I will guarantee you. Bill

PS. Have you filled that membership form out yet?

Woah! That's quite the load. I'd like to see you pull that over Gilmore pass by where I live though... . It's a loooooooooong hard uphill pull for like 40 miles!

My truck struggles with that pass with only 15k pounds.

These first generation trucks are awesome. I can pretty much keep up with my grandpa in his 96 with the same load.

damn... . hope you stick to gravel roads!!haha... 1st gen is awesome!!all that weight on a single tandem huh... . great picture tho!!what do you have for brakes???

Brakes

Here is what I do. Sorry don't have a picture of my new trailer loaded down with alfalfa. I usually haul 125-200 small squares at a time. My trailer (not the one pictured) weighs 4,500lbs.

I am tagged for 25K to avoid the CDL.

Its not squating at all

Hi Jim,

That truck isn't squating that bad:eek: OK, so the guy (me) loading it got the bright idea to put 600 lbs of hay over the hitch and bed of the truck. As it sat, it was about an inch off the stops. Since that time I have my own trailer and have added overloads. Reduced the sagging old lady syndrome quite a bit. A dually would be nice eventually.

Case 500D-

A friend of mine has a 40' g-n w/12K axles we are going to haul hay into Colo from KS, OK, and NE to resell. He says it handles about 10 tons pretty well. They pulled it a few times with a 99 3500 auto. I ought to be able to outdo that with my 1st genner. Empty, truck pulls the 7500# trailer ok. I will have adequate brakes, and since there are no weight limits per se in CO, and it is for ag use, I should be able to make a little extra cash on weekends. Happy motoring. That IS quite a load you got pictured there, both of ya. Like to see a PSD or Dmax do that.

Daniel

PS- got guages in yesterday- 22 psi w/ 1/8" endplay; used PDR unit should be here FRI. Can you still get the 1/8 NPT fittings to go on a ISSPRO pyro? Brent at DIS said they dont have them. Hate to put a 1/4 NPT hole inthe manifold, but may have to. It is post turbo for now. :(

load?

My father has a '91 W250 thet has logged some rather hefty loads. He was pulling 11 1300lb. bales on a 6k. trailer with a 7800lb truck. (28100lbs. gross!) from the field to the house on a regular basis! This truck finally gave up the ghost about a month ago with 279k. mi. when it threw a rod . These trucks are WAY underrated! But the plus side is that he replaced it with something a little newer (an '02 duelly)

Ya know, sometimes I get a bit jaded with my truck, but seeing a thread like this makes me realize what I really have! Thanks!

Picture ?

How do you guys get your pics small enough to post? I can't figure it out and I've got some pretty sweet pics of our 1st gens in action hauling hay.

I have a few of our Pete also, but I can't figure out how to post a pic. Any help?

David,

You need to crop them down, if you cant on your comp, just email them to me and I will for you. Or just bring the actual pics over and we can scan them in and immediatly crop them down.

Russell

P. S. I hope that pics are of the nights you guys show up in my barn with em 8 tiers high... LOL
