Mopar Splash Guards and Side Steps

I know, I don't want a K&N, I am just trying to figure out the appropriate change interval for either Fleetguard or Mopar filter short of just taking it out and looking at it. But maybe thats fine. I will just carry a spare with me. They are not cheap so I don't want to do it at every oil change, but I do want to do the optimal preventive maintenance. Usually the manufacturer has a recommendation but for my 2014 6.7 CTD air filters are not mentioned anywhere in the owners manual or maintenance schedule. So maybe it's appropriate to wait until the sensors indicate air cleaner is dirty. Never had that happen becuase I have been doing it at relatively short intervals on dealer recommendation.

The FCA Service Manual and the Factory Owners manual has replacing the factory air filter every 30K miles. I plan to follow that on my 2017 Ram 5500. Check your Factory Owner's Manual to see if it's the same for p/u's.

Cheers,

Ron

I change mine at 15k along with several other maintenance items. Easy to simply setup and get er all dun.

Ron, I'm trained for 15K mile intervals on my air and fuel filters from my other Ram Cummins trucks. I bought 6 air filters and 4 sets of fuel filters from Genos when they had free shipping last Dec.

Cheap insurance.

There is such a thing as over servicing when it comes to air filters.

JR,
I don't disagree with you on this. I think Ram maintenance guidelines are important for keeping warranty. My biggest problem is oil change interval based upon time. My 2017 Ram sat in the lot for almost a year, so oil should have been changed at least once. Prior to purchasing this truck, I only used mileage on oil changes and never had a problem.

So, the problem for me is balancing reasonable judgment on filter/oil changes and keeping maintenance guidelines to keep warranty intact, especially with FCA strict assessment of warranty claims.

Finally, all said and done, I'm going to change good filters and oil to document warranty compliance.

Cheers, Ron
