My local parts store said they carry a Kand N OIL FILTER. . It is reuseable and is cleaned similar style to their air filters. I have NEVER heard of this!! Who would want to use an oil filter over and over??? What about FRAM? I have heard these are not worth the $$$ and are very cheap quality. Thanks for your input

I have never heard of a re-usable K&N oil filter. I wonder if they are referring to the air filter that can be re-used by cleaning it & OILING it with gauze filter oil.

I have not heard anything good about the Fram products in Dodge/Cummins applications. Lots of information on this subject.

Yea, I went and saw the filter for myself..... It DEFINATELY is an oil filter!!! If you buy an air filter you get the oil filter for FREE, runs 11. 99 just for the oil filter. I didn't buy it because I figured I would ck here first before spending the $$$. It is definately a "Reuseable" oil filter... pretty bizarre if you ask me!

Man you guys need to do a search on the poor guy who decided to save a few bucks on an oil filter, I think it was a Fram.

Lunched is motor when the filter material sucked in internally and starved the motor for oil

Get the Fleetgards and be done with it.

I haven't heard of any problems with anyone who uses the K&N filters... but they aren't mopar/cummins approved. I work with a guy who has a cummins (an 03) who has used the K&N oil and air filters for the entire life of his pick-up with no problems so far (100,000+ miles). I personally use the Fleetguards and buy them from Geno's. They ship superfast. You can't go wrong with the Fleetguards... especially with warranty claims going the way they are.

I love the Fleet Guard Stratopore filters... . Have 3,000 miles on this filter and I can still read the letters through the oil on the stick. IMO, For the money, you can't beat them... :-laf

Stick with the fleetguard, get the 4/2/1 package deals at Genos and it's cheaper in the long run than running to the store to buy sub-standard non accepted filters.

I think there is only 1 or 2 after market oil filters approved by Cummins. I think Puralator is one of them for my year, not sure if there is a second..... Even so, I would just buy the Fleetguard. Geno's makes it completely painless. I buy one kit every 1 - 2 years, depending on my mileage.

They usually have the kits in stock.

If you have a problem with the engine, related to lubrication, and they find a non approved filter hanging there, they'll hand your the written estimate for repair and throw out your warranty.
