OK I know this simple..... But this K & N filter will not fit in the air box on the 92 D-350. The problem is it sticks out 1/4 " so when you try to squeeze the filter in your still 1/4 " away from being able to screw the wing nuts on the threads of the cover. It is fitting in the center of the box. Just sticks out too far. Any ideas ? While on the subject of air flow. The inlet to the air box is actually covered by the metal trim between the bumber & grill. Would it benifit to get better airflow by trimming the metal trim to get better air to the filter. I know more flow meens more cleaning but I have dont have a problem with that. Just a thought. Thanks, Mike

Compare it to the stock filter it should have all of the same dimensions. Instead of cutting metal for more air I would use a small hole saw and make more openings in the plastic Filter Box. The K&N Filter won't make that much of a diffenence in performance anyhow.

16cm.

The K&N is approx. 1/4" longer than stock. The wing nuts should thread on, and when tight, the cover end plate will not contact fully around the plastic air cannister. the filter is still functioning, and all intake air is filtered.
I have altered my air cannister by hole sawing about 12 1. 5" dia holes around the circumference of the cannister.

Hey Dave!

I purchased & installed my K&N filter in my '92 W250 a few months ago. I remember reading in the directions that for the 1992 & 1993's that you must scrape off the foam gasket on the bottom metal cap to fit correctly. I too installed mine and found that it stuck out of the housing too far, trimming the gasket off has made it fit like OEM.

I don't know if you have already done this recommended mod but if you haven't give it a try. This will not effect the performance or sealing of the filter.

I hope this helps!

The K&N on my '93 is the same way and oil analysis shows it is working just fine. I too have drilled a number of holes in the air box with no adverse results. I now have 2 K&N's and switch them every 12,000 miles so that I can clean and dry the dirty one when I have time. At first I only had one K&N and when I put the stock filter in while the other was drying I could feel the difference.
Happy Trails

You guys are great ! Thanks for the great responces. I removed the one side gasket fits like a charm. Old school, thanks for the hole drilling method. I will try that. I just had the valves adjusted. I had 2 that were way out 10thous off. This should make a diffrence as well related to power/high egt temps. They said the pump is alittle weak and I'll most likey have it rebuilt after I hear what the Dyno says tomorrow morning. You guys are a big help and thanks again !!! Regards, Mike
