Time to clean & reoil the K & N.
The question is, in the Recharge kit is the oil and cleaner. How much of the can of spray
on oil should one use. It cleaned up good, dried in the sun for about 3 hours after very
very gently shaking the excess water out. The can feels as though I used about half.

I just do not want to under oil it, or over oil as far as that goes. The recharge kit did not come with the tube of grease to put around the edge for a good seal. What is the best item to use for that.

When I re-oils my filter, I made sure that it had an even(medium) coat of oil on all surfaces. You don't need to put a heavy coat.

I put a stock filter in and let the K&N oil soak thru over night.

"Paint" the filter until you have a complete uniform coat - just enough to color the paper element. Doesn't take much. Your can should last several years unless you are racing Baja. Too much will eventually get sucked through. Don't forget to grease the mating surfaces where required.
FWIW, most guys refresh the K&N much too often. Filtration effectiveness increases until the element is completely coated, and dirt begins to fill the pleats. Surprisingly this doesn't materially increase vacumn. I ran one in a desert motorcycle race once. When I noticed a drop in power I pulled the filter and the pleats were filled completely! Banged the filter on my leg a couple times, stuck it back in and off I went at full power.

Only thing I noticed was more "sucking" sound when on the accelerator.

I installed Scotts air induction system and the K&N filter on Friday just before heading to the coast. I agree with TexRam, there is a sucking noise coming from the filter, but what an improvement over the stock box. I use to have a problem with rpms coming up and die at about 2200 rpms, but not now. With this new filter system and the K&N, it does not have that drop off point anymore. I forgot to mention that I was pulling a 25' fifth wheel(6500-7000). If it were to do all over again, would I install the air induction system... YES YES YES. . #ad
